Woo-Hoo!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One week from today I will be running my first race of 2015. \u00a0The Mississippi River Marathon \u00a0http:\/\/www.msrivermarathon.com\/<\/p>\n<p>Presently, I am registered for two marathons in 2015. \u00a0This one and the Berlin Marathon \u00a0http:\/\/www.bmw-berlin-marathon.com\/en\/ \u00a0in Berlin, Germany. \u00a0The Berlin Marathon isn&#8217;t until the end of September so these two marathons are, obviously, spaced pretty far apart.<\/p>\n<p>Many of you already know that I have a time goal for the marathon this year. \u00a0I would really, really like to break a 5 hr marathon in 2015. \u00a0This would mean a 20 minute PR over last October&#8217;s Chicago Marathon. \u00a0That&#8217;s a pretty big PR.<\/p>\n<p>The Mississippi River Marathon is supposed to be flat. \u00a0It is run on the Mississippi Delta. \u00a0If you&#8217;ve ever been to the Delta, you know it is F.L.A.T. \u00a0There is just the tiny issue of the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Half the race is in Arkansas. \u00a0The other half of the race is in Mississippi. \u00a0The half way point is this 3 mile bridge that crosses the Mississippi River and it is one doozey of a bridge!!! \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?attachment_id=2888\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2888\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2888\" alt=\"DSCN1818_thumb7\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSCN1818_thumb7.jpg\" width=\"414\" height=\"472\" srcset=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSCN1818_thumb7.jpg 414w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSCN1818_thumb7-263x300.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 414px) 100vw, 414px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My coach has me training at an 11:15-11:30 pace to get that 5:00 hour time but that was before I saw the bridge. \u00a0We are going to have to change the pacing around a bit. \u00a0I&#8217;m thinking that it will take me (hopefully only) 15 minutes to reach the peak of the bridge and then try to make up time lost on the way back down the other side. \u00a0Yikes!<\/p>\n<p>Other than fretting and stewing about that silly bridge, I think I&#8217;m ready for this race! \u00a0Physically ready, that is. \u00a0My mind will be going bonkers the rest of the week. \u00a0I will be trying to get myself psyched to reach the top of that bridge without shooting myself in the foot for the remaining 13.1 miles.<\/p>\n<p>Exciting stuff, huh?
