Last year, about this time, I put my name in the hat for my first World Major Marathon. \u00a0New York City.<\/p>\n
What is a World Major Marathon?<\/p>\n
These are BIG races.<\/p>\n
The date for the drawing for New York City arrived. \u00a0I was surprised to find myself super nervous! \u00a0I knew the odds of getting into that race basically didn’t exist. \u00a0It would be nice, though, right!?!<\/p>\n
I did not get into that race but two of my friends did! \u00a0That was cool and I was happy for them.<\/p>\n
Not long after the drawing for NYC, the lottery for the Chicago Marathon opened. \u00a0I shrugged and put my name in the hat for Chicago. \u00a0After the disappointing result from NYC, I honestly didn’t expect to get into Chicago.<\/p>\n
Imagine my shock when they pulled my name out of that hat! \u00a0I was in!!!<\/p>\n
Cool Beans!<\/p>\n
MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I drove to Chicago. \u00a0He cheered me on while I ran. \u00a0We had a great time. \u00a0My first World Major. \u00a0It was a pretty big deal!<\/p>\n
I know all of you know my 30th Wedding Anniversary is this coming May. \u00a0I wanted to something special for our 30th. \u00a0Maybe a trip to Europe? \u00a0I got on Google.<\/p>\n
I missed the time period for putting my name in the hat for both London and Paris. \u00a0Rats. \u00a0But, look! \u00a0Berlin was still accepting names! \u00a0Hmmmm…<\/p>\n
I put my name in the hat.<\/p>\n
The morning of the drawing for Berlin, I dragged my sorry self out of bed and booted up my laptop. \u00a0Made coffee. \u00a0Had breakfast with MFH. \u00a0Finally, I sat down to go through my email.<\/p>\n
HOLY COW!!! \u00a0There was an email all in German. \u00a0Once I found the part in English, I found out that we would be going to Berlin to celebrate our Anniversary!!! \u00a0Wowzers! \u00a0Too cool!!!<\/p>\n
Now, we are back to where I started this whole thing. \u00a0NYC. \u00a0The lottery opens on the 15th (Thursday) at noon (EST).<\/p>\n
Yes, I know I’m running Berlin but I HAVE to put my name in the hat. \u00a0I mean, what are the odds? \u00a0BUT, then again, what are the odds!?! \u00a0I’d go nuts not knowing if I might have gotten in.<\/p>\n
