Paxton takes his job as protector of the house seriously. \u00a0He is ever vigilant. \u00a0Ever faithful. \u00a0Always on guard.<\/p>\n
One thing he is not is obedient. \u00a0At least not immediately.<\/p>\n
Take today, for instance.<\/p>\n
#1 Son purchased a new (used) car. \u00a0He drove it home and parked it in our driveway. \u00a0I immediately went out to look at it~make all the appropriate Oooh’s and Ahhh’s. (it is a nice car, btw) \u00a0Paxton noticed a different car in the driveway.<\/p>\n
A new car in the drive triggers an immediate barking reflex in Paxton.<\/p>\n
Bow-Wow-Wow!!! \u00a0Said Paxton. \u00a0He had to tell me about the new car, too.<\/p>\n
#1 Son was busy taking paperwork and all out of the car. \u00a0I opened the front door. \u00a0Paxton seized the opportunity and made a mad dash for the offending car.<\/p>\n
Fortunately for #1 Son, Paxton recognized him for who he was, so Paxton busied himself sniffing around the offending vehicle.<\/p>\n
Seeing as the weather is cold and drizzly today in Mississippi, #1 Son and I didn’t spend mass quantities of time admiring the car. \u00a0We high tailed it into the house as soon as we could.<\/p>\n
Paxton decided to dawdle.<\/p>\n
I stood at the front door calling…”Paxton! \u00a0Come on, boy!”<\/p>\n
No Paxton.<\/p>\n
“Paxton!!! \u00a0Here, Paxton!”<\/p>\n
Nope.<\/p>\n
“Paxton! \u00a0Come here you dumb dog!”<\/p>\n
Out of desperation, I hit the doorbell.<\/p>\n
Paxton heard the doorbell! \u00a0Duty calls!!!<\/p>\n
He headed for the door lickity split!<\/p>\n
He ran into the house, barking all the way.<\/p>\n
Then he stopped at the front door, turned around and proceeded to bark at whoever had dared ring his doorbell.<\/p>\n
