Yesterday, MFH (My Favorite Husband) came on my morning run with me. \u00a0It has been a very long time since he has run with me around the neighborhood. \u00a0I was really looking forward to the run.<\/p>\n
A year ago, we ran every training run together. \u00a0That was when we were training for my first marathon (his third). \u00a0When we began training for that race, MFH had told me that it would be his last long distance race. \u00a0He just does not enjoy long distance running. I had agreed. \u00a0We successfully completed that marathon and ever since then, I have been training solo.<\/p>\n
I can remember my first solo training run. It was a trash day. \u00a0I encountered the garage collectors at a set of railroad tracks. \u00a0They had stopped the truck and asked me if I was by myself. \u00a0They were so used to seeing MFH and I running together. \u00a0They told me to be careful. \u00a0That was sweet.<\/p>\n
Since then, the garbage collectors, the delivery men, all the neighbors, everybody has gotten used to seeing me out running pretty much every. single. morning. \u00a0They wave. \u00a0They toot their horns. \u00a0Sometimes they stop to ask what race I am training for…all that kind of stuff. \u00a0Good people!<\/p>\n
Back to yesterday morning…<\/p>\n
MFH and I were running Evans Road. \u00a0As we were running along, MFH’s phone rang. \u00a0It was his office. \u00a0He had to take the call so he stopped to walk while he talked to somebody out in Colorado.<\/p>\n
I ran on ahead, about 3\/4 of a mile, then I stopped to wait for him to catch up. \u00a0He was still on his call, walking.<\/p>\n
About this time, the FedEx man drove by. \u00a0He saw me, tooted his horn and waved. \u00a0Smiling. \u00a0I waved back. \u00a0He kept on driving until he saw MFH.<\/p>\n
The FedEx man slammed on his breaks. \u00a0Then he threw the truck into reverse! \u00a0 He got to where he was close to MFH and yelled out his window, “Sir! Are you okay!?! \u00a0Is your heart alright!?!”<\/p>\n
Then he saw MFH’s phone and realized that MFH was just walking because he had a phone call. \u00a0They waved at each other and then the FedEx man drove off.<\/p>\n
MFH eventually caught up with me and finished his call. \u00a0We picked up our run and enjoyed ourselves.<\/p>\n
I laughed and told MFH that he needed to run with me more often. \u00a0It wasn’t nice to throw the the FedEx driver into a panic like that! \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n
