For starters, I love hashtags! \u00a0They are so much fun!!!<\/p>\n
I was texting with #1 Daughter a few weeks ago and used a hashtag. \u00a0Boy oh boy, did I catch it from her! \u00a0“Mom, you are entirely too old to be using hashtags. \u00a0Never, ever use a hashtag when texting with me.”<\/p>\n
I guess I embarrassed her. \u00a0It’s been know to happen. \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n
Anyway, it has been brought to my recent attention that I am a running snob. \u00a0AND that I am intimidating!!! \u00a0Who ever heard of such a thing!?!<\/p>\n
Every runner has a preference as to what distances they like to run. \u00a0I do not like running shorter distances. \u00a0There are two perfectly legitimate reasons for this. \u00a01~ I am not a very fast runner so I am not very good at shorter distances. 2~ The short distances hurt!!! \u00a0You have to run full tilt the entire way!!! \u00a0Ouch!<\/p>\n
The distances I like to run begin with the Half Marathon distance. \u00a0I really don’t care for that distance all that much but it’s kinda fun for every now and then. \u00a0I prefer the Marathon distance. \u00a0I feel like I’ve accomplished something when I run that distance. \u00a0I had a great time running that 50K last summer but seeing as I’ve only raced that distance once, I can’t really say it’s a favorite. \u00a0I’ll be racing that distance again in March, so the verdict is still out on that.<\/p>\n
I guess all of that makes me a #RunningSnob<\/p>\n
But to be called #Intimidating!?! \u00a0Wow. \u00a0That one really threw me for a loop!<\/p>\n
Most of you know that I am the Admin for state running group. \u00a0We have 374 members in our group as of this morning. \u00a0It is a super bunch of people!<\/p>\n
“One of the people ran their first marathon last weekend. \u00a0This person is majorly excited about his accomplishment and has been bitten by the “I want to run an Ultra bug.” \u00a0Good for him!!!<\/p>\n
My running buddy, (remember her? \u00a0I wrote about her last week) told him to contact me, just to call me on the phone and talk to me about running Ultra’s and the training involved.<\/p>\n
‘Nope.” was his firm reply.<\/p>\n
“Why ever not!?!” she asked.<\/p>\n
That is when he said that he was afraid to talk to me. \u00a0That I intimidated him.<\/p>\n
That was a first for me. \u00a0I mean, I am almost 53 years old and short! \u00a0What about me would anybody ever find intimidating!?!<\/p>\n
Anyway, I told my running buddy to tell this guy to just call me. \u00a0I promised not to bite.<\/p>\n
Goodness.<\/p>\n
