MFH (My Favorite Husband) got into my 6 bee hives during the past week and got them winterized. \u00a0I guess it was Tuesday when he did this. \u00a0I was perfectly happy to put on my “Bee Suit” and come help but he said it would be easier for him to just do it without me gimping around.<\/p>\n

We were pretty crunched for time in getting this done due to the cold front that was supposed to arrive on Wednesday. \u00a0The cold front was right on time, too!<\/p>\n

It turned out to be a good thing we got into the hives. \u00a0Some of the hives had too much empty space. \u00a0This would have made it impossible for them to control the temp inside the hive and also do maintenance against insect predators. \u00a0We do not treat for insects. \u00a0We are organic. \u00a0The bees do it all.<\/p>\n

Back to the honey, aka: Bee Spit.<\/p>\n

We ended up bottling 25 pint jars. \u00a0We also had enough this time to save some for ourselves. \u00a0That does not always happen. \u00a0Pretty sad when you’re a bee keeper and don’t have any honey for your own household. \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n

I was concerned about the honey situation for the holidays.<\/p>\n

See, I’ve talked may times about my neighbors. \u00a0They really are super people. \u00a0Each year at Christmas, we walk around the neighborhood and give everybody a jar of honey. \u00a0They seem to like it and we figure that it’s the least we can do to keep the peace when our bees are buzzing around their yards all year round. \u00a0Right!?!<\/p>\n

Anyway, with 25 jars, we have plenty to share. \u00a0That is good. \u00a0The bees did well this year. \u00a0I hope they get a good season of rest so that next spring, they are refreshed and ready to go at it again.<\/p>\n
