I had the wind to my back and I was zooming right along. The temp was comfortable. Not too hot and not too cold. Perfect!

As soon as I turned back to go north, though, that wind smacked me in the face. My pace slowed to a 12 minute mile and I froze! Man! That was cold! The entire run, I did not break a sweat. I am not a fan of cold weather.

Enough of my complaining about the weather.

My foot was feeling pretty good! I was moving well and loving being out on the road again. I had a few spots on my body that were saying to me, “You’ve been sitting, doing nothing for an entire week and now you want us to do what!?!” I told those spots to button it and just do what they were supposed to do. Eventually, they shut up and things were going great!.

On my way back on the second pass, there is a section of road where there is a sharp slant to the road. I usually run smack dab in the middle of the road there because that angle kills my knees and feet. Today, however, a Co-op semi decided that was the time to drive down the road and forced me to run on that sharply angled part of the road.

My foot said that was a bad idea.

I was already on my way back towards the house to begin my last pass. I was probably a half mile from the house? Maybe a little bit more. Doesn’t matter…I paid attention to my foot on that last little part there and it really started to object. Rats.

When I got back to the house, I decided it would be pretty stupid to do another lap if my foot was starting to squabble with me. So, I stopped. I decided that 5.30 miles on my first day back was an okay run. I would have liked to run further but, well, I’ve done a lot of really dumb things in my day but decided that another lap was not going to be one of them.

I still am planning on running that Half Marathon on Thanksgiving Day. I’m going to need to dot my i’s and cross my t’s if that is going to happen.

To answer your question, I think my foot is doing well! There was just a tiny bit of swelling after my run but I expected that. It’s not super sore or anything, I mean, I can tell I ran on it and all, but it’s not killing me like it was a week ago. I’m going to consider this run a success.

On a totally different subject:

We got the bees winterized yesterday. It was a good thing, too! It is 30* cooler today than yesterday. Their top super (big box…hard to explain) were at the most 3/4 full. One was completely empty. That would have spelled disaster for them living through the winter.

MFH (My Favorite Husband) took off the top supers and extracted the honey. We had talked it over before he did this and took a different approach as to how we were going to get the honey comb up to the house.

The comb is here in the house. However, the new way we did this was a fail. We didn’t lose any honey or anything like that, we just brought a ton of bees into the house. They are everywhere!!!

I need to figure out a way to de-bee my house now.

Fortunately, we have Italian (a “breed” of bee) bees and they are not aggressive, otherwise, we would be in a lot of trouble! #AdventuresInBeeKeeping

Since everybody is asking, I’ll just answer the question here. It’s easier that way.
