MFH and I have had a terrific trip in Chicago so far! \u00a0We have gone to the Expo~that was terrific!<\/p>\n
At the Expo, I met my running “hero,” Hal Higdon. \u00a0As far as I am concerned, HH is a running god. \u00a0This man’s programs have led me through the training for every single race (aside from C25K) that I have ever run. \u00a0I have followed his programs to. the. letter. \u00a0He has not let me down.<\/p>\n
I was so excited to meet him. \u00a0I was like a little HH groupie! \u00a0It’s so embarrassing, I bought one of his books and he autographed it for me. \u00a0I also had my pic taken with him. \u00a0Oh well…someday, I’ll get over making a ninny of myself. \u00a0Until then….<\/p>\n
MFH (My Favorite Husband) surprised me by buying me a new Garmin! \u00a0That was unexpected! \u00a0I am going to try it out today. \u00a0Sure hope I know how to work it when the race starts! \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n
I slept very well last night (it is early o’clock right now). \u00a0If I had not set an alarm, I very well might have slept through the start of the race! \u00a0I am very tired. \u00a0The two nights before we left to come here, I did not sleep well at all. \u00a0Too excited about the trip. \u00a0Now, I am pooped. \u00a0But, race day is here! \u00a0No rest for the weary. \u00a0Time to go out and do my thing.<\/p>\n
So, now, I am ready and waiting. \u00a0I have had my race day ritual of half a waffle and one cup of coffee. \u00a0I am waiting for it to …pass but I don’t think that is going to happen. \u00a0Boo. \u00a0Immodium will be my friend this morning.<\/p>\n
MFH and I will walk to the start and get there around 6:30 am. \u00a0They open Grant Park at 5:30 for the runners. \u00a0You have to go through security and all of that nonsense. \u00a0MFH will not be allowed into Grant Park. \u00a0Runners only. \u00a0I will miss getting to do my pre-race nervous chatter with him. \u00a0I pity the poor person that I pick out of the blue to talk to. \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n
So, the waiting game is here. \u00a0Just a few more hours and it’ll be time to pound the pavement.<\/p>\n
