For the third day in a row, I have slept soundly. \u00a0I have also been late to wake up. \u00a0This is not normal for me. \u00a0I am usually an early riser.<\/p>\n
So, what is different?<\/p>\n
If you recall, last Friday, the chickens, and Loki, the bunny moved to their new home. \u00a0It was a sad but exciting day all at the same time. \u00a0The home where they animals were going to live, well, they were very exciting at the prospect of new animals.<\/p>\n
This past January, I had bought 4 chicks. \u00a0They were 4 weeks old when I got them. \u00a0I ended up with three hens and one rooster.<\/p>\n
I remember when the rooster, Peter, started trying to crow. \u00a0He was soooooo cute, making these ridiculous squeaking and squawking noises. \u00a0That silly rooster practiced and practiced on his crowing until one day, he finally got it right.<\/p>\n
Peter was so proud of himself! \u00a0I think he kind of surprised himself a little bit too! \u00a0He could really belt it out.<\/p>\n
Pretty soon, Peter took it upon himself to welcome in the day. \u00a0At 4:30 am. \u00a0It didn’t matter that there was not a hint of daylight on the horizon, that was the time he deemed appropriate to wake us up…and wake us up, he did.<\/p>\n
We tried to sleep through our wake up call.<\/p>\n
Quite frankly, his crow was rather jarring. \u00a0I mean, we would be dead to this world and then Peter would let it rip. \u00a0He would crow continuously for close to 10 minutes. \u00a0We would put pillows around our ears in an attempt to muffle his crowing.<\/p>\n
After about 10 minutes, he would stop and we would instantly fall back asleep. \u00a0He would be quiet for 20-30 minutes and then he’d start in again. \u00a0He would make noise for another 10 minute and then stop again. \u00a0He would do this until we got up. \u00a0We usually admitted defeat around 6:00-6:30 am.<\/p>\n
Since Friday, there has been no Peter to bring in the day. \u00a0We have been sleeping! \u00a0We have been sleeping great!!!<\/p>\n
It has been glorious!<\/p>\n
