I am either very, very stubborn or very, very stupid. \u00a0Are stubborn and stupid synonyms?<\/p>\n
In my case, they may be.<\/p>\n
I set out this morning to get a feel as to just where I was with this concussion and my fitness. \u00a0I wanted to be able to determine if the Chicago Marathon was even a remote possibility. \u00a0I figured it I could run 8 miles, that would be sufficient for today.<\/p>\n
As I ran, I decided not to get further than 4 miles from the house, just in case I had to walk home. \u00a0That seemed reasonable to me. \u00a0I stuck to that! \u00a0I was never more than 4 miles away from home.<\/p>\n
However, at the 4 mile point, I was feeling pretty good! \u00a0I thought, “You know, if I could run 10 today, that would mean that Chicago was a go!” \u00a0At that point, it was on. \u00a0I HAD to see if I could do it.<\/p>\n
You do realize that I have done nothing but sit on my butt for 14 days. \u00a0I have been studious in finding ways to be NOT active. \u00a0I have tried very, very hard to let my head heal. \u00a0It has about driven me nuts, just sitting around, but it has been worth it.<\/p>\n
So, at the 4 mile turn around, I decided to go past the turn off for my street (8 miles) and add 3 more.<\/p>\n
The run was going well! \u00a0I was (or so it seemed) just gliding over the road. \u00a0“Easy Run” as a friend of mine would say.<\/p>\n
I ran to the turn around for 11 miles. \u00a0I was sad to have to turn back but there was a large sign that said, “Bridge Out,” and that was motivation enough for me to reluctantly head back home.<\/p>\n
Two miles of hills today. \u00a0Hills are speed work in disguise, or so I’ve been told. \u00a0Perfect weather, too!<\/p>\n
What a wonderful day!<\/p>\n
