Took a rest day from running today. \u00a0Instead, I mowed. \u00a0Woo-Hoo!<\/p>\n
Y’all know how much I enjoy mowing. \u00a0Seriously! \u00a0It is one of my most favorite things to do. \u00a0My problem is finding the time to get it done. \u00a0Since we’ve been back from vacation, it has only been mowed once and MFH (My Favorite Husband) did it for me. \u00a0That was such a huge relief for him to do that for me, too. \u00a0I was buried in chores. \u00a0Thanks again, Sweetie!<\/p>\n
Seeing as we had been gone for 10 days and I had not mowed for about that long before we left on our trip, a lot has changed in my yard.<\/p>\n
First things, first. \u00a0We have an Armadillo. \u00a0Boo. \u00a0I’m going to have to dwell on ideas to get rid of that guy. \u00a0Those things are a pain. \u00a0There may be more than one because I saw evidence of it all across the two acres I mow. \u00a0Hmmm…think, think, think.<\/p>\n
Second, it is drier than I thought. \u00a0We have gone 11 days without rain. \u00a0Some of you may not consider that a big deal but when I was mowing today, I found very large cracks in the yard. \u00a0We need some rain.<\/p>\n
Third, the Crepe Myrtles are done blooming! \u00a0YAY! \u00a0Crepe Myrtles are not my favorite bush\/tree. \u00a0They are pretty when they are in bloom but that’s about it. \u00a0When they are in bloom, the blossoms attract those big, black and yellow, fuzzy striped bumble bees. \u00a0Those bumble bees are very pretty and very, very nasty! \u00a0I have to wear my bee suit to mow around those Crepe Myrtles and we have 8 of the goofy things.<\/p>\n
Fourth, I didn’t see any fire ants today! \u00a0I guess they all went deep into the ground to get away from the hot, dry weather. \u00a0Sissies.<\/p>\n
Fifth, my grass is suffering from the hot, dry weather. \u00a0Usually, my lawn is very lush and green. \u00a0Today, it is dry, dull and almost all brown. \u00a0The only places where it is green is the places where the chickens have most recently been. \u00a0HA! \u00a0Let’s hear it for chickens! \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Sixth, my honey bees were in a remarkably good mood today! \u00a0That was nice. \u00a0Not going to complain about that one!<\/p>\n
I also noticed today that the neighbors have not been mowing much either. \u00a0That makes me feel better. \u00a0I always feel like a beatnik neighbor if I don’t keep up with my yard.<\/p>\n
