{"id":2542,"date":"2014-08-06T13:10:34","date_gmt":"2014-08-06T18:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2542"},"modified":"2014-08-06T13:10:34","modified_gmt":"2014-08-06T18:10:34","slug":"bunnies-and-robins-and-squirrels-oh-my","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2542","title":{"rendered":"Bunnies and Robins and Squirrels, Oh My!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are still in Iowa and are having a lovely time. \u00a0Last night we went over to SIL&#8217;s house for dinner. \u00a0Food was great! \u00a0Good ol&#8217; stick to your ribs food. \u00a0Yum!<\/p>\n<p>Today, though, was my long run of the week. \u00a0That meant running off that terrific meal from last night. \u00a0Ugh. \u00a0My body tried to convince me to take the day off but I knew how much I ate last night (and this included a delicious piece of banana creme pie), so I laced up and hit the road.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule today called for 15 miles. \u00a0I ran 15.35 miles. \u00a0It was overcast this morning. \u00a0We had received an inch of rain overnight so it was still pretty humid. \u00a0I was determined to get today&#8217;s run done before lunch time. \u00a0MIL is a great cook and I didn&#8217;t want to miss anything tasty!<\/p>\n<p>MFH (My Favorite Husband) ran the first five miles with me. \u00a0I have found a 5 mile loop that is convenient to my In-Laws house. \u00a0So, MFH ran the first five with me and stopped when we passed the house. \u00a0I ran the last two loops by myself.<\/p>\n<p>After I dropped off MFH, I ran down the hill to the bike path. \u00a0The bike path is two miles. \u00a0It runs parallel to some train tracks. \u00a0It is quiet and secluded. \u00a0The trees canopy the trail. \u00a0I usually pass quite a few people on bikes. \u00a0Not so many runners.<\/p>\n<p>This morning though, I was about the only person out there. \u00a0I had the trail to myself. \u00a0At least I thought I was. \u00a0Then I started noticing cute little animals coming out to the trail. \u00a0Lots and lots of bunnies. \u00a0These guys were not in the least little bit shy, either! \u00a0They came right up to the trail to see what I was doing. \u00a0Same way with the squirrels. \u00a0I noticed that the squirrels in Iowa are fatter than the squirrels in Mississippi.<\/p>\n<p>The other thing I noticed was all the Robins! \u00a0I&#8217;m not used to seeing Robins this time of year. \u00a0They come to Mississippi to winter, so it was strange seeing them in August.<\/p>\n<p>One last animal I saw was &#8220;Squinnies.&#8221; \u00a0At least I call them Squinnies. \u00a0Some people call them chipmunks. \u00a0They are a cute little rodent, and they are lightening fast! \u00a0They have stripes down their sides&#8230;and they are beggars. \u00a0Those guys would stop on the trail and sit up. \u00a0They looked at me like, &#8220;Hey, Lady, you have anything to eat???&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When they did that, I just looked at them, thought they were cute as I ran by. \u00a0Animals crack me up.<\/p>\n<p>The trail was already covered with brown leaves. \u00a0It is beginning to be Autumn around here. \u00a0Not a whole lot but along the trail you can see the trees starting to turn brown and the leaves are making their descent. \u00a0Hope that does not mean another rough Winter!<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, the Iowa State Fair! \u00a0Cannot wait!!! \u00a0Woo-Hoo!!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are still in Iowa and are having a lovely time. \u00a0Last night we went over to SIL&#8217;s house for dinner. \u00a0Food was great! \u00a0Good ol&#8217; stick to your ribs food. \u00a0Yum!
