{"id":2536,"date":"2014-08-02T18:18:45","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T23:18:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2536"},"modified":"2014-08-02T18:18:45","modified_gmt":"2014-08-02T23:18:45","slug":"the-animals-babysitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2536","title":{"rendered":"The Animal&#8217;s Babysitter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before MFH (My Favorite Husband), #1 Son and I left for vacation yesterday, I made a few phone calls. \u00a0I tried to find a babysitter for the chickens, cats and bunny. \u00a0Paxton (the dog) went to play at Reggie&#8217;s House. I&#8217;ve told you about Reggie&#8217;s House in a previous post.<\/p>\n<p>I had a lead on a lady who does housesitting and animal care. \u00a0She would have been perfect, however, she just got married the week before and would be on her honeymoon while we were away. \u00a0That was a bust. \u00a0So&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The next place I called was Reggie&#8217;s House. \u00a0I asked if they knew of people who took care of animals while people were away. \u00a0He recommended this lady. \u00a0She also works at a Vet&#8217;s office in my town. \u00a0Reggie&#8217;s House said that she was great. \u00a0I made the call.<\/p>\n<p>This lady was more than happy to take care of the animals! \u00a0She already had a housesitting job lined up for the week but would do &#8220;whatever I asked&#8221; as far as taking care of my &#8220;livestock.&#8221; \u00a0She came over to meet the animals, we got along well, so I hired her.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday was supposed to be her first day.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, my sister brought my nephew over to cut my grass. \u00a0They pulled into the drive and my sister noticed that my chickens were still inside of their coop. \u00a0Hmmmm&#8230;.that was not supposed to be!<\/p>\n<p>They went into the house. \u00a0The rabbit had not been fed and he couldn&#8217;t get his water because the bottle was clogged.<\/p>\n<p>She checked the chickens. \u00a0They were out of food and water.<\/p>\n<p>She called me.<\/p>\n<p>I was (understandably) upset. \u00a0My sister took care of all the animals and then left my nephew to do the mowing while she went into town.<\/p>\n<p>While she was in town, I called the lady who was supposed to be taking care of my animals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How are the chickens?&#8221; \u00a0I asked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh! \u00a0They are just fine!&#8221; \u00a0She replied.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, I am happy to hear that.&#8221; \u00a0I said.<\/p>\n<p>That was pretty much the extent of the conversation. \u00a0I was conveying to her that I knew she was not doing her job. \u00a0Sure enough, about 20 minutes later, I got a call from my sister.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Guess who&#8217;s here.&#8221; \u00a0She said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gee, I can&#8217;t imagine.&#8221; \u00a0I deadpanned.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yup.&#8221; \u00a0She replied. \u00a0&#8220;The lady who is supposed to be taking care of the animals is here. \u00a0You must&#8217;ve called her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I did, at that.&#8221; \u00a0I said. \u00a0&#8220;She has had just enough time to hang up from me and drive over there. \u00a0I think I delivered my message.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think you did, too. \u00a0She said she will come back around 6:00 this evening to put the chickens to bed. \u00a0I will drove over around 7:00 to double check. \u00a0If she does not come, I will take care of the animals for you and you can call her and fire her.&#8221; \u00a0Said my sister.<\/p>\n<p>I thanked her a whole bunch. \u00a0See, it is a 30-35 minute drive for anybody in my family to get to my house. \u00a0That is why I tried to find somebody to do this. \u00a0It is not right to lean that hard on relatives just because you are a bit eclectic and have bizarre pets.<\/p>\n<p>So, my sister and my parents are being roped into taking care of 10 chickens, 2 cats and one bunny while I am off playing for 10 days in Iowa. \u00a0 I&#8217;ll have to remember to bring them home some treats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Before MFH (My Favorite Husband), #1 Son and I left for vacation yesterday, I made a few phone calls. \u00a0I tried to find a babysitter for the chickens, cats and bunny. \u00a0Paxton (the dog) went to play at Reggie&#8217;s House.
