Yup. \u00a0I bid a fond adieus to some new friends. \u00a0I had only known them for a short time. \u00a0I used to have some friends just like them but slowly and surely, they had left me.<\/p>\n
At first, I was very upset when this happened. \u00a0Why was this happening!?! \u00a0Was I doing something wrong? \u00a0It was painful at first but eventually, I got used to it and learned to say, “Oh, well…”<\/p>\n
Then something happened! \u00a0Some of them came back to me! \u00a0This was great! \u00a0I was no longer embarrassed by being without them. \u00a0People did not look at me askance when they casually noticed their absence. \u00a0I began to fit in again. \u00a0This was nice.<\/p>\n
Saturday, though, it happened all over again. \u00a0Three of them said “Good-bye” again. \u00a0Right when I was starting to feel confident about them sticking around. \u00a0I felt sad. \u00a0I must admit, though, to not being too terribly surprised. \u00a0I had felt them thinking about leaving.<\/p>\n
It was nice while it lasted.<\/p>\n
Yup. \u00a0I lost three toenails at my 50K race Saturday. I am back down to 7 toenails again. \u00a0I am breaking out the nail polish and camouflaging the places where the toenails used to be. \u00a0If you do not look too terribly close, you cannot tell.<\/p>\n
*Sigh.<\/p>\n
Maybe, just maybe, I will grown them back in time for the Chicago Marathon in October? \u00a0Fingers crossed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
