How many of you remember playing that game back in Jr. High (Middle School), What’s Grosser Than Gross?<\/p>\n
I learned of a LOT of very gross and disgusting things playing that game. \u00a0Ugh! \u00a0Even now, they are flooding back into my memory.<\/p>\n
Well, tonight I added onto my list of things that are Grosser Than Gross.<\/p>\n
As you all know, I purchase watermelons specifically for my chickens. \u00a0I cut them up and put the pieces into Ziploc bag and pop them into the freezer for hot afternoon treats.<\/p>\n
I bought this last watermelon on Friday evening and I procrastinated on cutting it up. \u00a0That is probably one of my least favorite jobs to do because it is messy.<\/p>\n
Today, I noticed some fruit flies in the house. \u00a0I can’t stand those things and I don’t like them in my house!!! \u00a0I went on a hunt to figure out the source.<\/p>\n
The first thing I did was check my potatoes. \u00a0MFH (My Favorite Husband) ran into town for me last week to pick some up. \u00a0He does not like to shop at WalMart and cheats and goes to Kroger instead. \u00a0I will NOT buy produce from Kroger because every time I do, I end up with fruit flies. \u00a0Kroger has terrible produce. \u00a0The potatoes were suspect.<\/p>\n
I checked them out and they were fine! \u00a0So were the onions! \u00a0Hmmm…<\/p>\n
I was really puzzled and went about my day trying to figure it out.<\/p>\n
This evening, MFH and #1 Son were out so I decided to bite the bullet and cut the watermelon. \u00a0I picked it up and set it on the table. \u00a0I grabbed my knife and cut a substantial piece off of the watermelon.<\/p>\n
Holy Cow!!! \u00a0It was soup! \u00a0It went everywhere!!! \u00a0AND there were the fruit flies. \u00a0I was not a happy person.<\/p>\n
The first thing I did was grab what was left of the watermelon and hurried out to the chickens. \u00a0They thought they had died and gone to chicken heaven! \u00a0I think the entire thing is gone already. \u00a0Then I came back into the house. UGH!<\/p>\n
What a mess!!! \u00a0Watermelon guts everywhere!!! \u00a0And Fruit Flies everywhere!!! \u00a0I am NOT happy!!!<\/p>\n
I ended up getting that nasty watermelon juice all over my clothes, so I had to change clothes. \u00a0I grabbed a bunch of cleaning rags and paper towels and started cleaning. \u00a0I went through two dozen cleaning rags and half a roll of paper towels cleaning up that mess.<\/p>\n
Now, all I have to do is figure out how to get rid of the fruit flies. \u00a0If anybody has a secret on how to go about doing that, I’m all ears!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
