I know that a lot of people in the country are really enjoying this Arctic Blast we are getting right now. \u00a0The cooler weather has been appreciated here in Mississippi. \u00a0Things had been a tad on the warm side.<\/p>\n
This morning was a beautiful morning to run! \u00a0It was only 73F when I ran. \u00a0Since it was not a bazillion degrees out, my pace was quite a bit faster and my feet didn’t feel like they weighed a ton each. \u00a0It was lovely!<\/p>\n
This weekends forecast calls for highs in the mid 80’s. \u00a0This is great! \u00a0I mean, it is July and it is Mississippi. \u00a0This just doesn’t happen here!<\/p>\n
Y’all have been listening to me talk about this race since March. \u00a0You have been supportive about this race. \u00a0You have listened about the good training runs and the awful training runs. \u00a0You have cheered and encouraged me. \u00a0I have really appreciated it, too! \u00a0It gets lonely running 20+ miles by yourself and having people cheering you on makes the miles go a lot easier.<\/p>\n
Well, today my running buddy, who is going to run this 50K with me, shared the extended weather forecast with me. \u00a0Now, bear in mind that I have never met this guy before but I have msg with him many times on FB. \u00a0He is a good egg and MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I are looking forward to meeting him and his wife next weekend at the race.<\/p>\n
Anyway, he shared the weather forecast with me. \u00a0He was sweating bullets and now I am, too!<\/p>\n
Next weekends weather forecast…the race day forecast calls for 99F. \u00a0Oh NO!!! \u00a0This is not good news! \u00a0I had been hoping and praying for 80’s. \u00a0I realize that in Mississippi that does not happen but one can always hope. \u00a0Right!?! \u00a0Nope. \u00a0The weather is supposed to be H.O.T.<\/p>\n
I realize that extended forecasts are hardly ever accurate. \u00a0I really do realize that! \u00a0But still…<\/p>\n
So, now I am a “Nervous Nellie” about not only just completing the 50K but also about completing it in that kind of extreme weather. \u00a0Ugh.<\/p>\n
Yes, I have training in our hot\/humid climate. \u00a0I realize that. \u00a0I know I am as prepared as I possibly can be. \u00a0In my head I know that. \u00a0It’s my heart I have to convince.<\/p>\n
So, the next week, as I taper physically, I will be spending my time Mentally preparing myself for the race. \u00a0I HAVE to have my mind in the right place! \u00a0I HAVE to be psyched!!! \u00a0I HAVE to know in my heart that I CAN DO THIS!!!<\/p>\n
