{"id":2499,"date":"2014-07-15T15:49:24","date_gmt":"2014-07-15T20:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2499"},"modified":"2014-07-15T15:49:24","modified_gmt":"2014-07-15T20:49:24","slug":"poor-kitty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2499","title":{"rendered":"Poor Kitty!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have two cats. \u00a0Actually, these cats belong to our adult children.<\/p>\n<p>Both of our children had a cat and planned moves across the country. \u00a0They were unable to take their cats with them and asked if we would take care of them. \u00a0If we were unable\/unwilling to do this, the kitties would have to go to the pound.<\/p>\n<p>We did not want to see the cats end up at the pound so we took them in. \u00a0I mean, we live in the country and all, so what&#8217;s a few more cats roaming the countryside. \u00a0Right!?!<\/p>\n<p>Most of you know that we also have one dog, Paxton, the pudgy puppy (a Boxer), one Bunny named Loki, 10 chickens and 5 honey bee hives. \u00a0It&#8217;s a good thing we live in the country. \u00a0Nobody else would put up with us as neighbors!<\/p>\n<p>Living in the country does have its drawbacks. \u00a0This Summer in particular there has been one pretty awful drawback. \u00a0Flies. \u00a0Ugh! \u00a0The flies are awful this year!!! \u00a0I can hardly stand it!<\/p>\n<p>One of the ways I have combated the flies is fly traps. \u00a0These can only be used outdoors. \u00a0They work like a charm but fill up fast. \u00a0Not a problem. \u00a0They are inexpensive and easy to purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Indoors is another problem, though. \u00a0What to do? \u00a0We of course have fly swatters and somebody generally goes on a fly patrol during the course of the day, but that is most definitely GROSS!<\/p>\n<p>The other thing I have is ugly. \u00a0That is the fly strips. \u00a0You know, those long sticky things you hang from someplace high that is in the flies general traffic path. \u00a0These things work great, but like I said, are ugly.<\/p>\n<p>I have an open &#8220;window&#8221; that goes from my kitchen into the solarium. \u00a0I hang two fly strips there.<\/p>\n<p>Castro, my son&#8217;s cat likes to hop from room to room using that &#8220;window.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Last night, around midnight, Castro was on the prowl. \u00a0He made a flying leap through that opening and Oops! \u00a0He got tangled up in one of those fly strips.<\/p>\n<p>He was not a happy kitty!<\/p>\n<p>#1 Daughter is visiting with us right now and is sleeping on a sofa in the solarium right underneath that &#8220;window.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She woke up to Castro having a kitty fit! \u00a0He was meowing and yeowling. \u00a0He was very upset!<\/p>\n<p>#1 Daughter saw right away what the problem was and tried to help the poor cat. \u00a0She tried ripping the fly strip off like a band-aid. \u00a0She would get maybe and inch off and Castro would have no part of that. \u00a0He would fight and bite and hiss&#8230;this was bad.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, it took #1 Daughter close to a half an hour to get poor Castro untangled from the fly strip. \u00a0The cat took off like a shot. \u00a0That is when she discovered that she was all tangled up in the thing and covered in sticky stuff! \u00a0Ick!<\/p>\n<p>She headed on off to the shower and said it took quite a while to get all the sticky stuff off of her and out of her hair. \u00a0Poor kid.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, I slept through all of this. \u00a0The first I learned of this was when I tried to throw away a coffee filter and discover a cat hair covered fly strip in the trash can. \u00a0I knew there was a story behind that and this was that story.<\/p>\n<p>Whew! \u00a0Glad I am a heavy sleeper! \u00a0Poor Castro and poor #1 Daughter, huh?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have two cats. \u00a0Actually, these cats belong to our adult children.
