{"id":2488,"date":"2014-07-08T14:39:36","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T19:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2488"},"modified":"2014-07-08T14:39:36","modified_gmt":"2014-07-08T19:39:36","slug":"krispy-kreme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2488","title":{"rendered":"Krispy Kreme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As most of you know by now, I live in Mississippi. \u00a0I really like living here. \u00a0The people are great! \u00a0It is pretty. \u00a0I actually like the hot\/humid weather, too! \u00a0There is one thing about Mississippi that tickles my funny bone, though. \u00a0Restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>When a new restaurant opens in my town, it is a huge deal! \u00a0Mississippians know how to eat! \u00a0There is no other way to say it. \u00a0According to research(?), Mississippi is the fattest state in the nation. \u00a0Dubious distinction, huh? \u00a0What people in Mississippi lack in healthy eating, they more than make up for it in kindness and friendliness! \u00a0Mississippians are great people!<\/p>\n<p>Today was grocery store shopping day. \u00a0I elect to do my grocery shopping at WalMart. \u00a0We have a Kroger in my town but they do not have a very good selection and my bill usually runs $50.00-$75.00 more than when I shop at WalMart. \u00a0I cannot justify throwing away that kind of money.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, #1 son came with me on this shopping expedition and we made it out of WalMart unscathed. \u00a0Driving home, we passed the Krispy Kreme store. \u00a0The light was on signifying that they had just finished a batch of donuts. \u00a0The place was packed! \u00a0I guess people were in the mood for fresh donuts today. \u00a0Seeing how busy the store was, it brought to mind the day the store opened.<\/p>\n<p>See, Krispy Kreme made a bit Toot about opening a store in our town. \u00a0Big adds. \u00a0Billboards. \u00a0Newspaper and TV spots&#8230;everything. \u00a0The people in my town were salivating for fresh, hot donuts!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, opening day arrived. \u00a0The fresh donuts sign was lit the entire day! \u00a0Krispy Kreme could not keep up with the orders! \u00a0They baked\/fried donuts as fast as they could. \u00a0There began to be a bottleneck of traffic on the highway and traffic began to back up for miles. \u00a0Literally!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, someone notified our local police department. \u00a0Now, this is the funny part&#8230;The police had to come and direct traffic for the opening of the donut store!!! \u00a0They eventually had to close down a lane of traffic to accommodate all the people coming to purchase donuts! \u00a0They kept that lane of traffic closed off for two days!!! \u00a0That is how long it took for the enthusiasm to die down and the traffic pattern to get back to some normalcy. \u00a0 Funny but sad, too.<\/p>\n<p>So, now we have a Starbucks opening up here shortly. \u00a0Do you think that they will get the grand reception that the Krispy Kreme got? \u00a0I&#8217;m thinking, not. \u00a0I mean, I appreciate a good cup of coffee but most of us here don&#8217;t have the extra cash that you need for a Starbucks when you can get a couple of donuts for the same price. \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n<p>*for the record: \u00a0We have only visited the Krispy Kreme twice since it opened 1 1\/2 years ago. \u00a0I&#8217;m not a donut fan for the most part but MFH (My Favorite Husband) loves them. \u00a0 \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As most of you know by now, I live in Mississippi. \u00a0I really like living here. \u00a0The people are great! \u00a0It is pretty. \u00a0I actually like the hot\/humid weather, too! \u00a0There is one thing about Mississippi that tickles my funny bone, though. \u00a0Restaurants.
