I dunno…I’m skeptical.<\/p>\n
If you recall, this past Winter, we voted on a new Minister for our church. \u00a0Well, he and his family are here. \u00a0They started last Sunday. \u00a0It took a little while because they moved here to Mississippi from the U.K.<\/p>\n
Anyway, we are having a reception tomorrow. \u00a0An official, “Welcome to Mississippi AND welcome to our church!” \u00a0A bunch of the ladies are doing this do-dah and I was asked to participate. \u00a0Just in a small way. \u00a0Nothing major.<\/p>\n
I was asked to make sandwiches. \u00a0100 sandwiches.<\/p>\n
These sandwiches had specific instructions. \u00a0Kinda.<\/p>\n
They were to be: \u00a0Cream Cheese, Mayo and Crushed Pineapple sandwiches. \u00a0Crusts cut off. \u00a0No ragged edges. \u00a0AND… No Recipe!<\/p>\n
I emailed the lady in charge. \u00a0I asked how to make them seeing as I had never heard of such a concoction as that. \u00a0My initial reaction was, “Ewwww!!!” \u00a0Cream cheese, mayo and pineapple sandwiches!?! \u00a0Nasty!<\/p>\n
Her reply was, “There really isn’t any recipe. \u00a0You’ll know it when you are making it. \u00a0It’ll look right.”<\/p>\n
Uh-huh.<\/p>\n
Sounds like a recipe for food poisoning if you ask me.<\/p>\n
BUT, Google is my friend.<\/p>\n
I Googled recipes for this sandwich and found LOTS of them! \u00a0I was amazed!<\/p>\n
I selected the recipe that sounded the least offensive and headed on over to Kroger this morning. \u00a0Came home, softened the cream cheese and mixed the stuff up. \u00a0It looked like someone had been sick.<\/p>\n
I cut the crusts off the bread and took the crusts out to the chickens. \u00a0They were happy! \u00a0They love bread!!! \u00a0Then I came back into the house and bit the bullet. \u00a0I tried to smear that stuff over the crustless bread.<\/p>\n
What a sticky mess.<\/p>\n
Paxton, my ever faithful and hungry pooch was there, hoping against hope that something might “accidentally” drop from the counter. \u00a0Darn. \u00a0That did not happen. \u00a0Remember, Paxton is on a doggie diet.<\/p>\n
I made the sandwiches then went to put them in a container. \u00a0They would not fit. \u00a0Figures.<\/p>\n
I ended up with two containers of these sandwiches. \u00a0I hopped in the car with #1 son. \u00a0We drove immediately to church and got rid of those things. \u00a0Then we drove to the fireworks store. \u00a0It is almost the 4th of July and he wanted things that would go “BANG!”<\/p>\n
We are home now. \u00a0Whew! \u00a0What an adventure in the kitchen today! \u00a0I am still skeptical. \u00a0Don’t expect to see me eating any of those sandwiches tomorrow. \u00a0I think I’ll stick with a cup of coffee. \u00a0That is usually pretty safe.<\/p>\n
