Paxton went to the Vet today. \u00a0He loves going to the Vet. \u00a0Really!!! Going to the Vet means getting to ride in the car. \u00a0Going “bye-bye” is high on his list of favorite activities.<\/p>\n
Paxton is my dog. \u00a0I should clarity that. \u00a0He is a Boxer. \u00a0What a nut he is! \u00a0Cracks me up, that dog!!! \u00a0Plus, he is cute…but don’t mention that last part to MFH (My Favorite Husband). \u00a0MFH thinks that Paxton is Butt Ugly.<\/p>\n
Anyway, Paxton has been licking his front paws quite a bit the past week or so and last night I noticed that they were pretty swollen. \u00a0Time for a trip to the Vet, I decided. \u00a0This early, I was up and at ’em and off we went to visit the Vet. \u00a0We affectionately call the Vet, “Dapper Dan.”<\/p>\n
We actually got Dapper Dan’s son today. \u00a0His son just became a Vet about a year ago and joined the practice. \u00a0Nice guy. \u00a0Young. \u00a0Knows his stuff and Paxton loves him.<\/p>\n
Dapper Dan Jr. came into the room and Paxton immediately greeted him by wiggling, walking between the poor man’s legs and then sticking his paw out to shake. \u00a0That’s my dog. \u00a0What a weirdo. \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n
Dapper Dan Jr. looked at Paxton’s paws and determined that Paxton has cysts between his toes. \u00a0Antibiotics. \u00a0Dapper Dan Jr. then put Paxton on the scale. \u00a0130 pounds! \u00a0A fine, fine specimen of a dog. \u00a0(Paxton does not believe in skipping meals). \u00a0We paid our bill, got the antibiotics and came home.<\/p>\n
I gave Paxton his first dose of meds. \u00a03 Pills, 2 times a day. \u00a0With food.<\/p>\n
Paxton eats kibble. \u00a0I needed something wet. \u00a0These were capsules so I couldn’t crush them.<\/p>\n
#1 son went to WalMart and bought some canned cat food. \u00a0I mixed the pills with the cat food and Paxton thought he had died and gone to doggie heaven.<\/p>\n
There was only ONE problem with that. \u00a0Those little cans of cat food don’t hold very much food. \u00a0Paxton was still hungry! \u00a0I told him, “Paxton, cat food is F-A-T-T-E-N-I-N-G!!! \u00a0No more food. \u00a0You already weigh a LOT more than I do!”<\/p>\n
Now Paxton started getting upset.<\/p>\n
“You don’t seem to understand. \u00a0I am Hungry. \u00a0A LOT!” \u00a0He barked.<\/p>\n
I tried to talk to him.<\/p>\n
We play this game that usually will settle him down when he wants food. \u00a0I mimic him. \u00a0He likes this and he plays along. \u00a0Not tonight. \u00a0He wanted FOOD and lots of it!<\/p>\n
Nope. \u00a0I would not budge.<\/p>\n
Bow-Wow-WOW!!!<\/p>\n
Nothing.<\/p>\n
BOW-WOW-WOW!!!<\/p>\n
Then he pulled out the heavy artillery. \u00a0He brought me his traffic cone and held up his paw. \u00a0He was begging. \u00a0Literally.<\/p>\n
How can you say no to that!?!<\/p>\n
I gave him a treat in his traffic cone and we called a truce. \u00a0Poor dog. \u00a0It’s going to be a looooong 10 days of antibiotics.<\/p>\n
