I am going to a “Hoo-Rah” tonight with my sister (I only have one sister, no brothers and I am the eldest.). \u00a0This Doo-Dah is being held at Mississippi State University. \u00a0It is:<\/p>\n
All I know is that I am supposed to wear clothes that I don’t mind if they get permanently messy and rubber gloves. \u00a0Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?<\/p>\n
When I was little, playing in the dirt was frowned upon. \u00a0That meant a bath, laundry…it meant cleaning=chores. \u00a0Don’t get me wrong! \u00a0I had a sandbox in the back yard and I loved playing in it with my dump trucks, etc. but wallowing in the mud? \u00a0Nope. \u00a0Not much.<\/p>\n
When my own children were 4-5(?), very young anyway, we had a terrific rain storm. \u00a0I had a circular garden beside our deck. \u00a0I had just planted it. \u00a0With the rain, it was a gigantic mud puddle. \u00a0The kids went out to play.<\/p>\n
My first clue as to something was amiss was they were getting along. \u00a0That should have been a dead giveaway. \u00a0They were quiet. \u00a0Any Mom knows that quietness is a HUGE danger signal. \u00a0I must have been completely out to lunch that day or just reveling in the little bit of peace and quiet because all of a sudden, they decided that they were done playing and were going to come in.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, I was in the kitchen at the time (linoleum floor, thank goodness) when the door flew open and there were my two “darling” children covered from head to toe with MUD!<\/p>\n
‘You are NOT coming in the house all covered in mud!” (I probably shouted).<\/p>\n
“Buuuuuut, Mooooommmmm!” I am pretty sure was the reply.<\/p>\n
“Nope! \u00a0Back outdoors.” \u00a0Was my firm answer.<\/p>\n
We all trudged outdoors as I led them to the garden hose.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, it was a warm day. \u00a0I turned on the hose then I turned the hose on my “darling” children.<\/p>\n
They thought this was the greatest thing ever! \u00a0It was a great game!!! \u00a0Mom’s spraying us with the garden hose. \u00a0Wheeee~!!!<\/p>\n
So, we played that game until I had removed all the mud. \u00a0The game ran its course. \u00a0I went back into the house, retrieved a couple of towels, wrapped them around my “darling” children and together we came back into the house.<\/p>\n
That happened, oh, about 20 years ago and they STILL talk about it! \u00a0They thought that was the greatest fun they had had in a long, long time.<\/p>\n
I was more than happy to oblige! \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
