I have the cutest, sweetest chickens in the world. \u00a0They are so much fun! \u00a0Hilarious, too!<\/p>\n

It is averaging in the mid-high 90’s by early afternoon now in Mississippi. \u00a0Ice water is expected. \u00a0That is just the facts. \u00a0The chickens begin kicking up a fuss around 12:30-1:00 pm because they are hot.<\/p>\n

“Mom! \u00a0Where is the ice!?!” they cluck.<\/p>\n

Spoiled. \u00a0Possibly. \u00a0Maybe not? \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Today, I decided they needed a new treat to cool them down. \u00a0Watermelon. \u00a0Mmmm!!! \u00a0Who does not love watermelon on a hot day? \u00a0My chickens are no exception.<\/p>\n

MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I had errands to run right after lunch today. \u00a0We paid some bills and stopped for a Hot Fudge Malt. \u00a0Shot my calories for the day right out the window. \u00a0Sometimes, you just have to do that, right!?!<\/p>\n

As we were getting ready to drive home, MFH made the mistake of asking me, “Is there anything else you need while we are in town?” \u00a0I thought for a moment and remembered that I needed to get Paxton’s (the dog) heartworm medication. \u00a0We headed off to the vet office.<\/p>\n

While we were driving to the Vet, I remembered that I had been wanting to pick up a watermelon for the chickens.<\/p>\n

MFH does not like buying “frivolous” stuff for the chickens.<\/p>\n

“But they really like it, Dear.” I lament. \u00a0And we go and buy it. \u00a0He’s so cute!<\/p>\n

We continued on our way to the Vet office and arrived only to find out that they close from 12:00-1:00 for lunch. \u00a0Rats. \u00a0MFH decided we would go buy a watermelon while we waited for the vet’s office to open.<\/p>\n

We went to Food Giant. \u00a0Neither one of us had been there before. \u00a0No reason, really, we had just never shopped there. \u00a0They did not have any watermelons. \u00a0Hard to believe, but true. \u00a0So, we drove down the street to Sunflower Market. \u00a0We have shopped there a couple of time. \u00a0Over priced stuff.<\/p>\n

They had watermelons. \u00a0They were good sized, too! \u00a0We bought one and left to go back to the Vet.<\/p>\n

The Vet was open when we arrived so I popped into the office and bought Paxton’s heartworm stuff for the month. \u00a0We came home after that.<\/p>\n

As soon as we got home, I cut into the melon. \u00a0It was a nice one! \u00a0I cut off a ring, cut that in half, then I toddled on out the door to the chicken’s area.<\/p>\n

“Cluck, cluck, cluck!” I called.<\/p>\n

The chickens came running out of their chicken tractor. \u00a0They had been inside because it is shady in there. \u00a0They know that when I call, I have a treat.<\/p>\n

I dropped the two pieces of melon on the ground and they dove right in! \u00a0Everybody except for Peter, the Rooster. \u00a0He has got to stop that. \u00a0He stood there, again, just like yesterday and crowed for all he was worth.<\/p>\n

“Watermelon!!!” he was telling everybody in the entire neighborhood.<\/p>\n

By the time he shut up, it was almost gone. \u00a0Those ladies meant business with that melon! \u00a0He was able to get some, but not a whole bunch. \u00a0Silly chicken. \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
