28 miles. \u00a0All Done.<\/p>\n
I am pooped!<\/p>\n
Stuck with yesterday’s decision to run around our neighborhood. \u00a0It turned out to be a really nice run. \u00a0It was around 86F 98% humidity. \u00a0Perfect Summer running weather! \u00a0 Couldn’t ask for anything better!<\/p>\n
Started out at 7:00 instead of 8:00 just because I didn’t know how long this was going to take. \u00a0Turned out to take me 6 hours and 42 minutes. \u00a0Not too bad for a slowpoke like me.<\/p>\n
I had some company along the way.<\/p>\n
See, the city has been taking bids from contractors to clean up tornado debris and today was the day to pick it all up. \u00a0There were huge trucks with claw attachments on them.<\/p>\n
The claw would reach out and grab a bunch of dead limbs, etc. and dump it in the back of the truck. \u00a0Once the truck was full, it would take off leaving some guy in a car. \u00a0This car was like a bookmark. \u00a0They guy in the car just sat there waiting for the truck to come back. \u00a0Where the car was parked, was the place the truck knew to start picking up debris again. \u00a0Interesting operation.<\/p>\n
The guy in the bookmark car watched me go back and forth and back and forth…Finally, on one of my passes, he rolled down his window and said, “Lady, just how far you running?” \u00a0It told him and he just shook his head and clicked tongue.<\/p>\n
For the most part, it was overcast today. \u00a0The sun would peek out every now and then but pretty soon, it would disappear. \u00a0To be honest, the run was going so well, the I had changed my initial plan of 28 miles to 32. \u00a0Then, when I got to the marathon mark, the sky opened up and let loose. \u00a0Man, did it rain!!!<\/p>\n
I like running in the rain. \u00a0Actually, I like running in the rain, a lot! \u00a0This was a bit beyond just running in the rain, though. \u00a0See, I have dropped a bit of weight while training for this race so my shorts are a bit “roomier” than they used to be. \u00a0So, add shorts kinda a lot too big and a deluge of rain and the result is running shorts heading south. \u00a0Hmmm….this was a problem.<\/p>\n
I decided that stopping at 28 miles vs mooning the neighbors…stopping at the 28 miles was probably the best thing to do. \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
It really was a picture perfect run today! \u00a0Thanks for all your positive thoughts and the kind notes!!!<\/p>\n
