So, MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I went to our local Utility Co-op Open House today. \u00a0They had free food, door prizes, health screening….<\/p>\n
We were waiting for our turn at the cholesterol blood draw and there were a lot of people there. \u00a0The place was packed! \u00a0I was talking to a Utility employee at the time…<\/p>\n
He said to me, “Looks like you have been out in the sun a bit, Ma’am.” \u00a0(I have quite the tan from my sports bra and unfortunately, the strap marks do not match my shirts and they show. \u00a0A lot.)<\/p>\n
I replied that yes, I do spend a lot of time outdoors.<\/p>\n
He asked what I do to get that deep of a tan.<\/p>\n
I told him that I am a runner.<\/p>\n
That led to the inevitable conversation about how he would run but his knees are too bad, blah, blah, blah.<\/p>\n
I nodded politely and listened. \u00a0He was really warming up the his subject when all of a sudden, quite loudly, a voice interrupted!<\/p>\n
“Ma’am! \u00a0Do you still have those chickens in your house!?”<\/p>\n
My head snapped up.<\/p>\n
I looked around and sure enough, there was one of the men who installed our new heating\/air conditioning unit this past Winter. \u00a0That man, bless his heart, worked in our house around one dog, two cats, one bunny and four baby chickens. \u00a0He must have thought he was in a barn.<\/p>\n
I laughed!<\/p>\n
I assured him that the baby chickens were all grown up and out of the house. \u00a0Finally!<\/p>\n
He thought that was pretty funny.<\/p>\n
The guy talking about his knees and how he could not run was left scratching his head because it was my turn to get my blood draw. \u00a0I did not see him again. \u00a0I did, however, notice that I got a lot of strange looks from people who had overheard this exchange.<\/p>\n
