I think I have a Groupie. \u00a0Just one. \u00a0And no. \u00a0I am not “Almost Famous.”<\/p>\n
The past two weeks while on my long run, I have met up with this adorable little old man. \u00a0He is a cutie! \u00a0I would put him to be in his mid to late 80’s.<\/p>\n
He drives an older model Ford. \u00a0Faded blue or gray. \u00a0I’m not sure of the model. \u00a0He passes me pretty much in the same area of my run, too.<\/p>\n
Last week, when I ran during the downpour, he pulled up next to me and said, “Girlie! \u00a0Would you like a ride?” \u00a0I assured him that I was doing fine and thanked him for the offer. \u00a0He replied, “Keep up what you are doing, Girlie!” And sped off.<\/p>\n
I really did not give him any more thought until today.<\/p>\n
A little bit earlier in my run (mileage wise), I saw that same car drive by me. \u00a0Maybe about 15 minutes later, here it came again!<\/p>\n
The window of the car went down and there was that cute little old man again!<\/p>\n
“Girlie! \u00a0I saw you out here again today. \u00a0No rain! \u00a0You look like you are hot. \u00a0I brought you some cold water.” \u00a0Sure enough, he handed me a bottle of very cold water! \u00a0 Cool Beans! \u00a0I was melting and that looked wonderful!<\/p>\n
I thanked him again and before he drove away, he said, “Keep up the good work, Girlie!” \u00a0And he sped off.<\/p>\n
Interesting, that.<\/p>\n
I mean, I do run with pepper spray for those, “Just in case” moments but then again, how threatening can an 85 year old man be? \u00a0Dunno. \u00a0All that I can say is that the water was a life saver!<\/p>\n
I will be keeping my eye out for this guy, though.<\/p>\n
Today’s run was an incomplete run. \u00a0I managed 14 miles by the skin of my teeth. \u00a091 F. 88% humidity. \u00a0Very, very hot. \u00a0We will see how I do next week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
