{"id":2427,"date":"2014-06-02T16:15:39","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T21:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2427"},"modified":"2014-06-02T16:15:39","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T21:15:39","slug":"new-kicks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2427","title":{"rendered":"New Kicks!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love my Hoka&#8217;s! \u00a0I really, really do!!! \u00a0But all good things must come to an end, \u00a0or at least that is what I have been told.<\/p>\n<p>I purchased two pair of Hoka Stinson Trail for my Trail Ultra that I was scheduled to run on March 1, 2014. \u00a0That turned out to be a fail. \u00a0I ended up with a stress fracture in January and that resulted in crutches for most of January and February. \u00a0Rats. \u00a0That meant that those lovely new shoes stared at me from their boxes for the better part of two months.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as I got the thumbs up from my Orthopedic Dr. \u00a0I grabbed those shoes and put them to good use. \u00a0The miles began to add up and the &#8220;goodies&#8221; in those shoes began to wear away. \u00a0It was sad. \u00a0I loved those shoes. \u00a0Better yet, my feet and knees loved those shoes. \u00a0They made my feet very, very happy.<\/p>\n<p>Last Monday, I wore one of those pair of shoes for an 8 miler. \u00a0Not very far, really, but the rest of the day, my left foot was very, very unhappy. \u00a0That particular pair of shoes had been gradually giving my left foot a bit of grief. \u00a0I knew that it was time to retire them. \u00a0They had around 400 miles on them.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing as I knew that I was going to have to retire those shoes soon, I had been keeping my eye open for sales on my beloved shoes. \u00a0They do not come cheap. \u00a0I could not find a sale. \u00a0I asked around on my online running communities and nobody knew of any sales either because there were not any. \u00a0Rats.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Monday, I bit the bullet and ordered two new pair. \u00a0$289.00. \u00a0Ouch. \u00a0That was the least expensive place I could find them. \u00a0They arrived last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Last Thursday was a long run day. \u00a0There was NO WAY I would wear a brand new pair of shoes for a 22 miler. \u00a0Nope. \u00a0So they sat.<\/p>\n<p>Friday was a rest day. \u00a0Saturday was running group. \u00a0A shorter run but it was supposed to rain and I did not want to wear them for the first time in the rain. \u00a0Silly, but that is the facts. \u00a0Sunday was a 10 miler and that was too far to wear new shoes.<\/p>\n<p>Today! \u00a0I was only scheduled to run 8 miles. \u00a0Today I decided to wear my new shoes. \u00a0How much fun!!! \u00a0It felt like my feet had springs! \u00a0Light as a feather! \u00a0Until mile 6. \u00a0Then, I knew that 8 miles was too far to wear the new shoes. \u00a0Rats. \u00a0So, I called MFH (My Favorite Husband) and he met me (he is such a good guy!!!) and brought me home. \u00a0It was either that or mess something up.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s run was really a very nice run.
