We have the best neighbors in the world.<\/p>\n
We are blessed to live in the country in Mississippi. \u00a0Our property is approximately 2 acres. \u00a0There are five houses on our street. \u00a0One of the houses is brand new. \u00a0They are still building it. \u00a0We have a very fancy house two houses to our East. \u00a0In between our house and the really fancy house is a modest house. \u00a0This houses the mother of the son who owns the very fancy house.<\/p>\n
The house under construction is going to be owned by a cousin to the son who owns the fancy house. \u00a0I think he is a nephew to Mama.<\/p>\n
The house directly to our West is owned by the “Grouchy Uncle.” \u00a0A cousin lives in that house. \u00a0He rents the house from the “Grouchy Uncle.” \u00a0Down the road, at the cul-de-sac, is another relative. \u00a0He is a super nice guy.<\/p>\n
Everybody on our street is related. \u00a0Except for us. \u00a0We are the odd man out. \u00a0We get along great with everybody in the neighborhood except for the “Grouchy Uncle.” \u00a0He does not like us. \u00a0He does not even like MFH (My Favorite Husband) and Everybody likes MFH!!! \u00a0If they are going to not like somebody, nine times out of ten, they will not like me. \u00a0Go figure.<\/p>\n
Story time:<\/p>\n
I was out mowing this afternoon. \u00a086 F. Sunny skies. \u00a0Beautiful weather!<\/p>\n
The yard was finally dried out from the severe weather we had this week, so I seized the opportunity to cut that grass before it decided to rain again.<\/p>\n
When I mow, I always begin on the West side of our property. \u00a0I do not know why, I just do. \u00a0Lots of times, the Nephew, the renter of that property, will mow at the same time. \u00a0We will wave at each other sometime while we are mowing. \u00a0Just being neighborly…you know!<\/p>\n
The “Grouchy Uncle” is probably 5(?) years older that MFP and myself. \u00a0We were kids in grade school during the Civil Rights Era. \u00a0There was a lot of unrest and discord during those years and many people of different races grew to be un-trusting of anybody who was not of their same race.<\/p>\n
I guess the “Grouchy Uncle” is stuck in his mindset in the Civil Rights years. \u00a0He only trusts people of his own race. \u00a0He definitely does NOT trust us. \u00a0That is too bad. \u00a0He loves his family and is a very loyal person. \u00a0Those are good qualities in a person! \u00a0He would make a good friend.<\/p>\n
When we first moved here, I was out mowing and so was he. \u00a0As we passed each other on the mowers, I raised my hand and waved. \u00a0Hmmm…he must not have seen me because he did not wave back.<\/p>\n
We made another pass. \u00a0This one was closer. \u00a0I waved again. \u00a0He did not wave back. \u00a0Odd.<\/p>\n
The third time, we made passes probably not more than eight feet apart. \u00a0He could not miss me! \u00a0I waved for the third time. \u00a0The “Grouchy Uncle” grabbed a towel off the back of his mower and threw it over his head so he would not have to see me!<\/p>\n
Now, THAT is Grouchy!<\/p>\n
Fortunately, he does not live on this street. \u00a0His nephew, the person renting there does, we get along great! \u00a0He is a super nice guy. \u00a0Drives a school bus. \u00a0His sister used to live there with him, but she passed a year ago of cancer. \u00a0That was sad. \u00a0We sent a card with a check. \u00a0We did not attend services. \u00a0We did not want to upset the “Grouchy Uncle” on such a private day.<\/p>\n
All that to say, I mowed today. \u00a0So did the nephew. \u00a0We waved at each other and finished our mowing. \u00a0The yards look great! \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
