I am signed up to run the Big Butts 50K on July 26 in Jackson, Mississippi. \u00a0It promises to be a grueling race. \u00a0Hot. \u00a0Hot. \u00a0Hot.<\/p>\n
To prepare for this race, I am pushing my morning runs to later in the day~trying to acclimate to the warmer temps. \u00a0Today was supposed to be a long run. \u00a020 miles. \u00a0I was 7 miles short of my goal. \u00a0Rats.<\/p>\n
It was a toasty day in Mississippi today. \u00a0Perfect! \u00a0Or so I thought. \u00a0There was not a cloud in the sky. \u00a0Really pretty weather! \u00a0I set off between 9:30-10:00 am. \u00a0I figured it would take me around 4 hours to complete my run.<\/p>\n
I ran 2 hours and 31 minutes today. \u00a0My back blistered. \u00a0I got dizzy. \u00a0I quit sweating. I overheated. \u00a0This was bad. \u00a0I was drinking everything I had. \u00a0It was just no good. \u00a0I had to call MFH (My Favorite Husband) to come and get me. \u00a0Boo.<\/p>\n
It is really sad to be so close to completing a run and yet know that enough is enough.<\/p>\n
Next week, look out! \u00a0I will do this!!!<\/p>\n
