{"id":2320,"date":"2014-03-25T13:29:35","date_gmt":"2014-03-25T18:29:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2320"},"modified":"2014-03-25T13:30:10","modified_gmt":"2014-03-25T18:30:10","slug":"donkeys-and-daffodils","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2320","title":{"rendered":"Donkeys and Daffodils"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s run was difficult. \u00a0The entire thing did not &#8220;flow.&#8221; \u00a0Every step was a challenge. \u00a0I pushed. \u00a0Hard. \u00a0Today, I decided, would be an easy run, so, I ran hills.<\/p>\n<p>I have not run hills for about a week and a half. \u00a0It is surprising to me how quickly my legs forget how to do those hills! \u00a0My mantra is: \u00a0&#8220;Kill the Hills&#8221; and it works! \u00a0I forget that I am working hard and today was no different. \u00a0I did not worry about pace or cadence&#8230;all those things sorted themselves out. \u00a0It was lovely.<\/p>\n<p>Spring is my favorite time of year here in Mississippi. \u00a0I think it is because it comes so early~right when you need it. \u00a0Right when you are soooo sick of Winter and think you cannot stand it for one more day, out pop some flowers and the trees begin to bud. \u00a0Love it!<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s run was lovely. \u00a0We have a great deal of wild Daffodils near our house. \u00a0On Evans Road (just adjacent to my street) there is a field, oh, about two acres, that is packed solid with these wild Daffodils. \u00a0It is awesome!!!<\/p>\n<p>Daffodils are my favorite flower. \u00a0They are a happy flower. \u00a0When I was a little girl, I used to call them &#8220;Trumpet Flowers&#8221; because a) I could not remember their real name and b) I always thought that they trumpeted in Spring. \u00a0Yes, Daffodils are my favorite flower after all of these years.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I was running past the field of Daffodils, reminiscing a little bit about calling them &#8220;Trumpet Flowers&#8221; when all of a sudden: \u00a0&#8220;HEE-HAW!!!!!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I had forgotten that there are four donkeys that live in that field of Daffodils! \u00a0They were full of themselves this morning and were saying &#8220;Good Morning!&#8221; to me.<\/p>\n<p>I must have jumped a mile! \u00a0All thoughts of Daffodils were wiped clean of my mind as I caught sight of those four mischievous donkeys. \u00a0They were happy to see me.<\/p>\n<p>I was scolding myself. \u00a0This was not the first time that these donkeys had caught me unawares. \u00a0I think they do it on purpose.<\/p>\n<p>I kept on running and so did they. \u00a0They followed me along the fence row as far as they could~Braying all the way. \u00a0They were having a good laugh at my expense. \u00a0They knew they had gotten me. \u00a0Silly donkeys.<\/p>\n<p>That was on my way out.<\/p>\n<p>On my way back, I was ready for them! \u00a0When I first caught sight of them, I started talking to them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Good morning, you silly donkeys. \u00a0I am ready for you this time. \u00a0You will not scare me on my way back home. \u00a0HA!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I must have looked a sight. \u00a0I was all hot and sweaty and carrying on a conversation with four donkeys in a field. \u00a0Good thing no cars drove by, huh?<\/p>\n<p>In keeping up my soliloquy with the donkeys, I was unable to linger and enjoy the field of daffodils. \u00a0That made me a little sad but doggone it, those donkeys were NOT going to get me again! \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n<p>It was a lovely run this morning. \u00a0It was a nice sunny, breezy morning. \u00a0Tomorrow will be a longish run. \u00a0It is supposed to be a bit chilly. \u00a0I am supposed to have a running buddy with me, too. \u00a0I still need to call her and confirm. \u00a0She is not overly fond of cold weather so I may be doing my run by myself. Sure hope not but if I must, I must. \u00a0Fingers crossed.<\/p>\n<p>On a side note: \u00a0Tomorrow is also the drawing for the ING NYC Marathon. \u00a0My name is in the hat. \u00a0Fingers crossed for my name to be drawn. \u00a0I have a 4% chance of getting into this race. \u00a0My hopes are up and then again not. \u00a0So, tomorrow, they will be drawing names in waves and letting us know by email. \u00a0I will be parked by my laptop all. day. long. tomorrow. \u00a0I&#8217;ll let you know one way or another.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s run was difficult. \u00a0The entire thing did not &#8220;flow.&#8221; \u00a0Every step was a challenge. \u00a0I pushed. \u00a0Hard. \u00a0Today, I decided, would be an easy run, so, I ran hills.
