They were all working! It was nice to see the relaxed atmosphere. That told me the Old Highway was going to be a long time in repair mode.

I approached the guys watching the trees being uprooted, I asked them if it was alright for me to be running on the Old Highway. They replied, “Sure! Run on it as much as you want!” So, there! I have official permission to run on the Old Highway to my little hearts delight.

Only one thing will interrupt that. They are planning on pulling up the bridge decking this week. So, I can run the Old Highway as far as the first bridge as long as I like.

I ran over two of those nasty old bridges this morning. They have already chewed up the asphalt down to the concrete slabs of the deck. There is re-bar showing and of course those lovely empty gaps of nothingness I told you about last week. Keeps you on your toes! BUT~I have permission to be there!

They have moved the barricades around a little bit so it is easy to squeeze between them. No more going around them on the shoulder of the road and falling down. Whew on that!

I did not have a huge run scheduled for today. My long runs are on Wednesdays for this training program. For the long runs, I will be running the frontage road that runs parallel Highway 82. It is a busy road, so timing is important.

The Frontage Road has a High School. It also has Fed Ex and UPS hubs on it. So, there are High School students/teachers flying to school and then the delivery trucks pulling out and zooming down the road. You want to time your run so the kiddos/teachers are already at school and the truck fleets have pulled out for the day. I have almost been creamed on that road…this has been a lesson learned the hard way.

BUT, I have learned the lesson! 🙂

Here’s to safety while running!

I have a friend who has the “Heebie Jeebies” about me running the Old Highway. (I think you know who you are 🙂 So, today I did something I think you would appreciate. I asked permission before I ran on the road.
