{"id":2277,"date":"2014-03-03T12:36:34","date_gmt":"2014-03-03T18:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2277"},"modified":"2014-03-03T12:36:34","modified_gmt":"2014-03-03T18:36:34","slug":"castro-and-loki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2277","title":{"rendered":"Castro and Loki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you read yesterdays blog, Musings, you may recall that I mentioned my son&#8217;s cat, Castro. \u00a0Castro came to live with us two years ago this month!<\/p>\n<p>Castro is a white kitty. \u00a0He has a little bit of orange in his face and on his tail. \u00a0Other than that, he is all white with blue eyes. \u00a0He is a good boy. \u00a0He likes to purr and he likes to catch birds. \u00a0That last part about him is not so endearing.<\/p>\n<p>When our son moved to Mississippi from Colorado, he brought Castro with him. \u00a0Our son got his own apartment and he and Castro make themselves at home~that is until one night, Castro escaped!<\/p>\n<p>We looked everywhere for that silly cat. \u00a0We put up signs. \u00a0We called the animal shelters and called local vet offices. \u00a0No Castro. \u00a0This was upsetting!<\/p>\n<p>Time passed. \u00a0Castro was gone. \u00a0We figured he had been hit by a car or something. \u00a0Time to move on.<\/p>\n<p>Our son decided he needed a new companion pet. \u00a0He did not want another Houdini cat~a cat that could escape~so he decided on a Bunny.<\/p>\n<p>He watched Craigslist. \u00a0He watched the listings in the newspaper. \u00a0He finally found a bunny in Tennessee that would be a good &#8220;fit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Off we drove to Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>We came home with a baby bunny. \u00a0Our son christened him, Loki.<\/p>\n<p>Loki, too, is white. \u00a0He has some brown spots in his fur and a cute fluffy tail. \u00a0He likes to &#8220;thump&#8221; his foot~just like Thumper in the movie Bambi. \u00a0He is litter box trained and does a pretty good job of that. \u00a0He likes to chew. \u00a0And chew. \u00a0And chew.<\/p>\n<p>Loki is a very cute and very fuzzy termite.<\/p>\n<p>After Loki had come to live with my son, things went swimmingly. \u00a0Then, we received a phone call~at our house, not my son&#8217;s house.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have your cat. \u00a0Come get him now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What!?!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We found this white cat. \u00a0He has a name tag on his collar with your phone number. \u00a0It says its name is Castro. \u00a0This is your cat. Right!?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Um, yes. \u00a0We thought he was dead.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We asked where he was. \u00a0This cat had been living above the ceiling tiles in the cafeteria at Mississippi State University! \u00a0How in the world did he get there!?!<\/p>\n<p>We immediately went and picked him up. \u00a0He. Was. Pudgy.<\/p>\n<p>When Castro went missing, he was a very skinny kitty. \u00a0He was not anymore.<\/p>\n<p>I guess living above a cafeteria made for good eating!<\/p>\n<p>Now our son was faced with a dilemma. What to do with his cat. \u00a0He had a bunny and bunnies and kitties to not make good playmates.<\/p>\n<p>Castro came to live with us. \u00a0Permanently.<\/p>\n<p>That is the story of how we ended up with cat #2. \u00a0Someday, I may share with you how we got our daughter&#8217;s cat, Kali.<\/p>\n<p>As a side note. \u00a0Our other cat, Kali? \u00a0She is Castro&#8217;s mama. \u00a0They do NOT get along. \u00a0There is usually some fur flying at our house. \u00a0Never a dull moment! \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you read yesterdays blog, Musings, you may recall that I mentioned my son&#8217;s cat, Castro. \u00a0Castro came to live with us two years ago this month!
