Today’s run: \u00a05.32 miles<\/p>\n
A year ago, almost every blog I wrote, running related blog I should say, was about Schaeffer’s Chapel. \u00a0Today will be no different.<\/p>\n
Schaeffer’s Chapel is a real place. \u00a0It is a quaint and cozy chapel nestled next to a picture perfect cemetery. \u00a0There are lovely trees surrounding the chapel. \u00a0Dainty flower beds and parking signs that say, “This parking place reserved for our Senior Saints.”<\/p>\n
How perfect is that!?!<\/p>\n
It makes a terrific destination run. \u00a0Round trip it is 5.32 miles from the driveway. \u00a0Last year, there was some consternation as to whether this favorite route of mine would have to come to an end. \u00a0The little gravel road with the 1920’s era plank bridge had been closed. \u00a0We did some “minor trespassing” for a while to be able to continue on our favorite route. \u00a0Finally, a guilty conscious put an end to that.<\/p>\n
THEN, they started building the new highway. \u00a0This was a gift! \u00a0This opened an entirely new avenue to reach my beloved Schaeffer’s Chapel! \u00a0Hey, YA! \u00a0MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I utilized every stage of road construction we could to reach the Chapel.<\/p>\n
Then I got injured. \u00a0That annoying stress fracture. \u00a0That put the big kabosh on running to anywhere let alone Schaeffer’s Chapel.<\/p>\n
Last Saturday, I tried my first steps running again post fracture. \u00a0A whopping 1.50 miles.<\/p>\n
I have been adding mileage gradually over the course of this week until today~HURRAY!!! \u00a0I was able to run again to Schaeffer’s Chapel!!<\/p>\n
This was a wonderful, wonderful accomplishment! \u00a0MFH went with me. \u00a0He kept saying, “How is your leg?” \u00a0“Are you sure you are up to this?”<\/p>\n
I never answered him. \u00a0I just kept on running~with a big smile on my face. \u00a0I was so happy! You have no idea how exciting it was to reach my destination…my very most favorite run in the world~and I was running it!<\/p>\n
