It is a rarity these days to have a BFF.<\/p>\n
Our society is geared toward instant relationships. \u00a0Instant end of relationships. \u00a0WHAT!?!<\/p>\n
I am talking about social media. \u00a0Deleting of friends when the going gets rough or when the person does not suit your fancy. \u00a0That is easier than working through any difficulty that the friendship may encounter and find that “diamond in the rough” of a truly terrific friend.<\/p>\n
I am guilty of this. \u00a0It is easier to hit the delete button or block the person from your news feed. \u00a0Problem solved. \u00a0Everything is peaches and creme again. \u00a0Life is smooth sailing.<\/p>\n
Do not get me wrong. Sometimes you run across a creep. \u00a0A stalker. \u00a0A not very nice person who sends inappropriate messages or gives you the heebie jeebies. \u00a0Then the delete button is a mighty handy thing to have at your disposal!<\/p>\n
So, why am I harping on this?<\/p>\n
I had a lovely discussion today with a dear friend. \u00a0We discussed this along with a myriad of other things. \u00a0This friend mentioned that he had witness people with their smart phones sitting across a table from each other. \u00a0Nothing wrong with that~but instead of actually talking to each other, they were texting their conversation to each other. \u00a0How lame is that!?!<\/p>\n
We have become lazy. \u00a0Many of us have lost the ability to converse past the, “Hi! \u00a0How are you?” \u00a0and have transposed that into, “Hi, how are u?” \u00a0We wonder what is happening to our younger generation. \u00a0They have grown up with smart phones, tablets, laptops etc. and have lost the art of conversing with people. \u00a0OMG! \u00a0LMAO! BFF! or just hitting the “Like” button.<\/p>\n
Does anybody have a BFF anymore??? \u00a0Would you recognize one if you had one? \u00a0For a lot of people, the answer is, probably not.<\/p>\n
Do not take friendships for granted. \u00a0Invest in your friends. \u00a0Get to know them. \u00a0Talk to them. \u00a0Hopefully your spouse or significant other (see, I even spelled it out! \u00a0I didn’t just put S.O.) really is your Best Friend!<\/p>\n
