MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I live on the Prairie of Mississippi. \u00a0We are in the East Central part of Mississippi, about 10 miles from the Alabama border.<\/p>\n
Today, we had an opportunity to drive to the Delta to visit our son. \u00a0The Delta is on the Western side of Mississippi. \u00a0The Mississippi Delta~the Delta of the Mississippi river.<\/p>\n
The Prairie is lovely rolling hills. \u00a0Lots and lots of trees. \u00a0Lumber is a Huge industry where I live. In the Delta, Cotton is King! \u00a0The Delta is Flat. \u00a0Flat. \u00a0Flat.<\/p>\n
As you drive along Highway 82, right before you reach the town of Greenwood, you go down and very large hill and then BOOM! \u00a0You are on the Delta. \u00a0There will not be any doubt in your mind where you are. \u00a0The change is that abrupt.<\/p>\n
Today, February 1, 2014, the farmers were out in their fields, they were plowing, and planting. \u00a0Planting cotton. \u00a0It was interesting to me to see just how many tractors-BIG tractors-there were out there.<\/p>\n
The Delta does not look like a lucrative part of Mississippi but the machinery we saw out in those fields today was worth a minimum of $90,000.00. \u00a0That is for an itty bitty tractor~and these were the big tractors. \u00a0It takes spending money to make money, I guess.<\/p>\n
We had a lovely visit with our son. \u00a0Due to the fact that it is a 2 1\/2 hour drive to reach where he is, we were only able to stay a few hours and then drive home. \u00a0It is always good to get to visit with your adult children! \u00a0We always count time with them as extra special.<\/p>\n
We did board Bozo~I mean the dog, Paxton, for today’s adventure. \u00a0My sister and her family stopped by after a basketball game to check on the chickens. \u00a0The water container for the outdoors chickens has sprung a leak and needs to be refilled mid day. \u00a0The baby chickens are indoors (but not for much longer~YAY!) and eat like there is no tomorrow. \u00a0They need to be fed a couple of times a day because they empty their food container! \u00a0Little pigs!!! \u00a0The cats were outdoors, the bunny was in his cage. \u00a0Simple.<\/p>\n
So, now we are home. \u00a0A little weary around the edges, but we had a delightful day. \u00a0It was sunny and in the upper 60’s F. \u00a0Light breeze. \u00a0Just a perfect day for travelling and visiting!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
