Christmas brought me a HUGE surprise! \u00a0From my Children.<\/p>\n
I have two adult children. \u00a0They are 26 (favorite daughter) and 24 (favorite son). \u00a0They are both smart and good looking. \u00a0We (MFH and I) have been telling them this since they were little. \u00a0I do not think they believe us as of yet but they have grown to be terrific people.<\/p>\n
Each year for Christmas they put a great deal of thought into our gifts. \u00a0This year I was worried.<\/p>\n
Each time I had one of them on the phone and we would be discussing Christmas, they would giggle. \u00a0Adult children, giggling, is a bit disconcerting. \u00a0I was worried. \u00a0I was curious! \u00a0I did not know what to think. \u00a0They were like cats purring they were so pleased with themselves. \u00a0Now that I have opened my gift, I know why.<\/p>\n
The kids went together and purchased a Beer Making Kit for me. \u00a0They know I love beer. \u00a0At the conclusion of each day, my treat for behaving on my “diet” is to enjoy a nice beer. \u00a0It is a terrific way to wrap up a successful day.<\/p>\n
Over the years I have become a BS (Beer Snob). \u00a0I am fussy as to what beers I do and do not like.<\/p>\n
I do not like lite beer. \u00a0Lite beer is for sissies! \u00a0There should not be such a thing as “diet” beer. \u00a0No. \u00a0That is evil! \u00a0I like beer that is leaded~that has some substance to it! \u00a0Mmmmm!!!<\/p>\n
My favorites? \u00a0Let me see…Shipyard Blue Fin Stout, \u00a0Of course ANYTHING Guinness, Rouge Chocolate Stout, an Oatmeal Stout. \u00a0I am not so sure about a vanilla stout~a little too sweet. \u00a0I do like Shiner Black Lager! \u00a0That is tasty! \u00a0You are getting the idea. \u00a0A dark, heavy beer. \u00a0Yes!<\/p>\n
The kit my children got me, bless their hearts is for an IPA Lite beer. \u00a0Hmmm…I followed the instructions to the letter. \u00a0Today was testing day.<\/p>\n
Now, somehow, I got a hold of a bottle of Miller lite. (Ewww.) \u00a0Do not ask. \u00a0Let us just suffice it to say, I did not pay for it. \u00a0I did not steal it either! \u00a0It is just too long a story to recant here.<\/p>\n
I opened my first bottle of my first batch of beer. \u00a0I poured it into a glass. \u00a0It definitely was pale. \u00a0It smelled lite. It tasted lite. \u00a0It was a little flat.<\/p>\n
I opened the Miller lite. \u00a0I poured it into a glass. \u00a0It definitely was pale. \u00a0It really smelled lite. \u00a0It really tasted lite. \u00a0It, too, was a little flat.<\/p>\n
I guess I got it spot on! \u00a0Success!!!<\/p>\n
So, now I know how to make a Miller Lite! \u00a0Goody!<\/p>\n
My daughter lives in Colorado. \u00a0They have a microbrewery in her town. \u00a0We visited that brewery last time we visited. \u00a0They make an awesome Stout! \u00a0She has talked to the brewmaster. \u00a0He sold her the ingredients, recipe and directions to make that stout! I really, really like it! \u00a0I am currently waiting for all those goodies to arrive in the mail.<\/p>\n
