Today’s Run: \u00a0Crutches…<\/p>\n
I had a Doctors appointment today for my leg. \u00a0My regular Doctor was on vacation so I had to see his replacement.<\/p>\n
This particular individual is a very, very nice person. \u00a0She means well. \u00a0Really~She does…but I trust her medical opinion about as far as I can throw her. \u00a0Really.<\/p>\n
I went in for a MRI. \u00a0She would only schedule me for X-ray. \u00a0I know, and I am sure many of you know that stress fractures do not show up on an X-ray. Usually only on a MRI. \u00a0Beggars cannot be choosy and I went and had the X-ray.<\/p>\n
They were getting me prepped for the pictures and the tech said, “Okay, we are taking pictures of your left Tibia.”<\/p>\n
I said, “No, Femur.”<\/p>\n
The tech said, “Dr. ___ sent us orders for the Tibia.”<\/p>\n
“My Tibia is fine. \u00a0It is my Femur that has the problem.”<\/p>\n
Now maybe you can understand a tiny bit of my lack of confidence in this individual!?! She cannot even fill out an X-ray order without messing it up. \u00a0There is a big difference between a Tibia and a Femur. \u00a0At least she had the correct leg! \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Anyway, the reason I went ahead and saw her was my primary objective: A Dr’s order to an Orthopedic specialist. \u00a0One specialist specifically. \u00a0I achieved that objective.<\/p>\n
I see Dr. Jones (real name) this coming Friday at 2:00 pm. \u00a0He is supposed to be really, really good. \u00a0He is an ex Triathlete and therefore sensitive to the needs of runners, swimmers, bikers etc. and the need to be training. \u00a0This is good! \u00a0He comes highly recommended.<\/p>\n
Wish I had news to report. \u00a0That is about all the news I have! \u00a0We are still waiting. \u00a0My leg still hurts…well, not so much after that shot they gave me in my patoot. \u00a0That actually worked pretty well!<\/p>\n
I will work to keep you all informed. \u00a0Will be going to the pharmacy here in an hour or so. \u00a0She gave me a prescription for something to help control the discomfort. \u00a0That is nice. \u00a0Advil is not doing much for me these days. \u00a0Still on crutches until told otherwise.<\/p>\n
This is going to make a great story to tell my grandkids someday…”Once upon a time, Grandma was training for this race when………”<\/p>\n
