Today’s Run: \u00a0Rest Day<\/p>\n
Many of you know that I lost a hen last week to an opossum. \u00a0You also know that we moved our trap back into the back yard and that we caught said opossum. \u00a0What you do not know is that in the last three nights, we have caught a “critter” in that trap. \u00a0It works very well.<\/p>\n
MFH goes out every morning with his .22 and “takes care” of the critters that want to eat my lovely, lovely hens. \u00a0He is a good guy.<\/p>\n
We have a place where we take the animals after they have had their confrontation with the .22 and leave them. \u00a0This is the country, after all.<\/p>\n
This morning, I was out feeding my chickens when MFH went out to take care of the “raccoon” that we had caught last night. \u00a0I really, strongly dislike raccoon’s. \u00a0They are mean.<\/p>\n
As I was feeding the hens, I was also watching MFH. \u00a0He was casually walking up to the trap and then stopped. \u00a0Then he backed away…fast. \u00a0From a distance he aimed and I heard a “pop.” \u00a0Then MFH ran!<\/p>\n
Whatever is going on!?!<\/p>\n
Then, I smelled it! \u00a0Oh, NO!!!<\/p>\n
Our “raccoon” this morning was a skunk!!! \u00a0That all too familiar “black and white perfume” was permeating the early morning air.<\/p>\n
I hurriedly finished with the chickens and made a mad dash to the house.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, that one “pop” was true and MFH did not have to go back out. \u00a0After just a little bit, he took a trash bag and bagged the skunk (we usually do not bag the opossums and raccoon but this was different!) and took off for happier\/safer\/more distant places.<\/p>\n
It is still odoriferous outdoors. \u00a0I think I will spend a great deal of today indoors! \u00a0Whewie!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
