{"id":2115,"date":"2013-12-18T12:53:19","date_gmt":"2013-12-18T18:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2115"},"modified":"2013-12-18T12:53:19","modified_gmt":"2013-12-18T18:53:19","slug":"poor-math","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2115","title":{"rendered":"Poor Math"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a024.04 Miles<\/p>\n<p>Math has never been my strong suit. \u00a0To put it bluntly, I stink at math.<\/p>\n<p>When I was in 4th grade, the school system introduced something called: \u00a0New Math. \u00a0New math was nothing more than a self study. \u00a0They gave you a book or a flash card, told you the assignment and you were supposed to figure out on your own how to solve the equation. \u00a0The answer was on the back of the card or in the back of the book.<\/p>\n<p>My teacher, Mrs. McGrew (see, I still remember this woman&#8217;s name after all these years!), was a firm believer in the theory that we were all highly motivated little darlings and would figure out our fractions, long division or multiplication on our own. \u00a0I must have been the exception to the rule. \u00a0I looked at the answers in the back and copied them down. \u00a0I learned nothing that entire year. \u00a0I have paid dearly for that year as today, I am hopeless at math.<\/p>\n<p>This brings us to today.<\/p>\n<p>I ran today. \u00a0It turned out to be a huge run. \u00a024.04 miles. \u00a0I was only scheduled to run 20 miles but due to my ineptitude in addition, I incorrectly added on a few extra miles. \u00a0Boo.<\/p>\n<p>It would be bad enough if I had just added the miles wrong as I was running, but I couldn&#8217;t even figure out the average time I ran&#8230;not even with the help of my Garmin! \u00a0I will admit to not even looking at the average pace on my Garmin. \u00a0When I logged my miles, I just automatically logged the average pace I always run. \u00a0Did not give it another thought.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, my pace was quite a bit above average today, as someone so kindly pointed out to me! \u00a0Cool Beans on the faster pace! \u00a0Boo on my math skills! \u00a0Someday, I am going to learn how to multiply, divide, do fractions&#8230;someday!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a024.04 Miles Math has never been my strong suit. \u00a0To put it bluntly, I stink at math.
