The Holiday Season is Here! \u00a0Now! \u00a0Yikes!<\/p>\n
We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year. \u00a0That is not a problem. \u00a0I actually prefer it that way to be honest. \u00a0I feel like I have a bit more control over what happens that way. \u00a0It is my kitchen, my house, my castle, my rules. \u00a0Make sense?<\/p>\n
I know that for a ton of people, the holidays are stress, Stress, STRESS! \u00a0I. Love. Holidays.<\/p>\n
Thanksgiving is a favorite because it is the only holiday where we get turkey to eat. \u00a0I really, really like turkey. \u00a0I really, really, really do NOT like ham!<\/p>\n
I had a friend (who passed \u00a0this past year) who would deep fat fry all the turkeys for his neighborhood. \u00a0He loved doing it for his friends and was happy to do it. His Mama decided that she wanted her ham deep fat fried and he told his Mama…”Mama, I ain’t fryin’ no ham.” \u00a0Just to see him say that, it was very, very funny and that is how I will remember him…”Mama, I ain’t fryin’ no ham.”<\/p>\n
Well, I am not fixin’ any ham. \u00a0I am preparing a yummy, yummy 22 pound turkey! \u00a0Cannot wait!<\/p>\n
What are your favorite Holiday customs?<\/p>\n
We never really got into the putting cookies out for Santa or anything like that. \u00a0When the kids were little, we did an Advent wreath and had a “Happy Birthday, Jesus” birthday cake for dessert instead of pie.<\/p>\n
Our children thought they were doing to die because we made them wait until Christmas morning to open their gifts. \u00a0We did have Stockings stuffed full of trinkets. \u00a0We tried to make it as special and magical as possible.<\/p>\n
The kids are grown now. \u00a0Our daughter is 25 and lives in Colorado. \u00a0We will not be able to see her this year. \u00a0We will call her on Christmas day and send our Holiday greetings to her.<\/p>\n
I think my husband and I will be by ourselves this Christmas. \u00a0Our son, who is 24, will hopefully come over and that will be nice. \u00a0Who knows, maybe I can have another Turkey for Christmas, too!<\/p>\n
So, to those of you who are just beginning your holiday shopping…better snap to it! \u00a0Time’s a wasting! \u00a0I am halfway done! \u00a0Christmas is one month from today. \u00a0Hey, YA! \u00a0Cannot wait!!!<\/p>\n
