{"id":1984,"date":"2013-10-26T21:13:32","date_gmt":"2013-10-27T02:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1984"},"modified":"2013-10-26T21:15:35","modified_gmt":"2013-10-27T02:15:35","slug":"home-again-home-again-jiggity-jog-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1984","title":{"rendered":"Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a0Traveling<\/p>\n<p>Today has been a day of traveling.<\/p>\n<p>We met with a MFP friend this morning at an omelet place. \u00a0Wonderful, wonderful omelet! \u00a0After breakfast, however, we found ourselves with 2-3 hours to kill before our flight. \u00a0What to do&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>We found out about the New England Air Museum in close proximity to the airport and we decided to check it out. \u00a0They opened at 10:00 am~we arrived at 9:00 am so napped in the car until 10:00 (we are kinda worn out from all of this traveling.)<\/p>\n<p>10:00 am. \u00a0The doors opened and in we went. \u00a0We paid our money, got our map of the museum and took off to explore. \u00a0It is quite the place! \u00a0Lots and lots of WWII planes, photos, gear, etc. in the beginning of the museum. \u00a0Being the history buffs that we are, we were hooked from the first display.<\/p>\n<p>We came to some WWII bombers and they had the different sized bombs. \u00a0They were laying on the ground for you to oooh and aaah over. \u00a0Then you came to the 1,000 pound bomb. \u00a0That was BIG! \u00a0Bigger than me! \u00a0Impressive!<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the 1,000 pound bomb, we were admiring another WWII plane when this total stranger walked up to us and started telling us all about that particular plane. \u00a0She was very well informed about the plane, its crew, and its restoration. \u00a0She was passionate about her topic. \u00a0Come to find out, her husband was the guy in charge of restoring that particular plane. \u00a0Ah, that explains it. \u00a0Very nice lady. \u00a0We learned quite a bit from her. \u00a0Time that was well spent listening.<\/p>\n<p>There was a school group of pre-schoolers getting to climb into a Coast Guard helicopter. \u00a0They were having a great time scampering around the place.<\/p>\n<p>We saw WWI planes and the advances made in technology was astounding! \u00a0My grandfather fought against Poncho Villa in the WWI era and they were just beginning to use planes during that campaign for making maps. \u00a0Those types of planes were on display also. \u00a0Amazing how thing have changed.<\/p>\n<p>We killed some time waiting for our flights in the museum and I would say it was time very well spent. \u00a0Educational and entertaining. \u00a0I would highly recommend it if you are ever in Hartford, Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, we flew in a large plane today from Hartford, Connecticut to Atlanta, Georgia and then in a &#8220;puddle jumper&#8221; from Atlanta home to Columbus, MS.<\/p>\n<p>It is good to be home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?attachment_id=1986\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1986\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1986\" alt=\"IMG_20131026_112035_300\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_20131026_112035_300.jpg\" width=\"3264\" height=\"1836\" srcset=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_20131026_112035_300.jpg 3264w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_20131026_112035_300-300x168.jpg 300w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_20131026_112035_300-1024x576.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_20131026_112035_300-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3264px) 100vw, 3264px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a0Traveling Today has been a day of traveling.
