Today’s Run: \u00a026.2 miles<\/p>\n
I ran my very first marathon today. \u00a0It had hills. \u00a0Lots of Very. Big. Hills.<\/p>\n
My first half I PR’d it by 4 minutes! \u00a0I was very happy about that! \u00a0Kept my pace the entire time UNTIL mile 18-20. \u00a0That was ONE HILL! \u00a0Holy Cow! \u00a0I thought I would never get to the top of that thing. \u00a0I ran up the entire hill (I ran the entire course, no walking! yay!) but my pace suffered and I had a hard time recovering my pace after that.<\/p>\n
So, I slowed down for the last 6 miles. \u00a0Boo. \u00a0But I still finished in under 6 hrs. \u00a0By the skin of my teeth finished under 6 hours but under is under!<\/p>\n
My time for the marathon was 5:58:10 and I placed 18th in my age division. \u00a0That is a nice thing…to finish in the top half of your age division. \u00a0I’ll take that!<\/p>\n
Celebratory dinner tonight was Maine Lobster. \u00a0Caught today! \u00a0We ate at a little place right on the coast. \u00a0Awesome! \u00a0We were able to watch the boats coming and going…we had a great time!<\/p>\n
Would I do another marathon! \u00a0You bet I would!!! \u00a0This has been totally and completely a wonderful experience! \u00a0My husband declared today that this was his last marathon. \u00a0He finished strong! \u00a0YAY for him! \u00a0I was ahead of him about 30 seconds. \u00a0He did a terrific job!!!<\/p>\n
I crossed that finish line in victory! \u00a0AND, I did NOT cry!<\/p>\n
