{"id":1953,"date":"2013-10-12T14:10:24","date_gmt":"2013-10-12T19:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1953"},"modified":"2013-10-12T14:10:24","modified_gmt":"2013-10-12T19:10:24","slug":"running-buddy-for-the-ultra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1953","title":{"rendered":"Running Buddy for the Ultra!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a08.45 miles<\/p>\n<p>Three training runs left before the marathon. \u00a0Seven days until the race!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mTIXR29l3WE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We are a little under-prepared for the hills but I am confident that we can finish! \u00a0Let&#8217;s do this!!!<\/p>\n<p>I have three off weeks from training before the training for my 50 mile Ultra begins. \u00a0That race is on March 1, 2014. \u00a0The training is a 15 week program.<\/p>\n<p>I will be doing my long runs for this race by myself. \u00a0I will be running this race by myself also. \u00a0I knew this going into the race and I am okay with that. \u00a0There are some marathons that will be coming up that I can run as \u00a0training runs~just so that I am around people. \u00a0It gets lonely running 5-6 hours by yourself!<\/p>\n<p>Now, to backtrack a little bit&#8230;I am an administrator for an online Running Club. \u00a0Our club has close to 200 members! \u00a0There are 64 chapters of this club and we are the largest chapter!!! \u00a0Bells and whistles for us. \u00a0One of our members is interested in running the same Ultra that I am doing. This person want to be my running buddy for the race! \u00a0How awesome is that!?!<\/p>\n<p>My husband and son are planning on crewing for me and this guys wife and daughter will be crewing for him, so&#8230;they can all keep each other company while we trudge in the woods for 12 hours or so.<\/p>\n<p>Just knowing that I will have another person in the general vicinity as me is a comfort. \u00a0The woods can be rather creepy in the dawn and dusky part of the day. \u00a0There is no nighttime running, hence the 12 hour time limit. \u00a0The race starts at 6:00 am so it will still be a little bit dark at that time. \u00a0Nice to have the company.<\/p>\n<p>So, Yay! \u00a0I will have family meeting me at the turnarounds with fresh shoes and socks and goodies to eat, etc. and I will have someone with which to run so I will not be all by myself. \u00a0Nice!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run: \u00a08.45 miles Three training runs left before the marathon. \u00a0Seven days until the race!
