{"id":1914,"date":"2013-09-28T19:35:52","date_gmt":"2013-09-29T00:35:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1914"},"modified":"2013-09-28T19:35:52","modified_gmt":"2013-09-29T00:35:52","slug":"today-i-ran-and-ran-and-ran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=1914","title":{"rendered":"Today, I Ran And Ran And Ran&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run 23.13 miles<\/p>\n<p>Today we ran and ran and ran and then we ran some more. \u00a0We (my husband and I) ran for a grand total of 5 hours and 13 minutes. \u00a0That is a very, very, very long time to run.<\/p>\n<p>I made a mistake from the start. \u00a0I wore an old pair of running shoes. \u00a0BAD IDEA.<\/p>\n<p>I have one &#8220;New&#8221; pair of running shoes~the shoes I intend to wear for our upcoming marathon in 21 days. \u00a0I did not want to wear them out, so to speak on today&#8217;s last long training run, so I elected to wear an older pair. \u00a0Silly me.<\/p>\n<p>The tread on the bottom of the left foot on those shoes is completely gone now.<\/p>\n<p>We ran on a rather rough road surface for about 10 miles. \u00a0It was very hard on the feet and it totally destroyed what was left of that pair of shoes. \u00a0Lesson learned.<\/p>\n<p>My husband, bless his heart, said they were not fit to be worn again and had me order another new pair for the race. \u00a0We still have quite a few training miles to do before race day so I can wear my older &#8220;new pair&#8221; the pair I should have worn today and still make sure the new &#8220;new pair&#8221; will work for the race.<\/p>\n<p>But the run today was AWESOME!!!<\/p>\n<p>We started out at 4:30 am. \u00a0The sky was clear. \u00a0The stars were bright. \u00a0We had the road to ourselves. \u00a0It was wonderful! \u00a0We used the LED flashlights I told you about last week again this morning&#8230;they work great!<\/p>\n<p>The daylight was approaching around 6:00 and was full dawn by 6:30. \u00a0Not a cloud in the sky. \u00a0Beautiful running weather. \u00a0When we started our run at 4:30 it was 62 F. and when we finished 5 hours later, it was 71 F. \u00a0It was getting a little uncomfortable there at the end.<\/p>\n<p>A creepy story for you regarding being warm. \u00a0We were in direct sunlight for the last 5 miles of our run today so I elected to run in my shorts and sports bra. \u00a0Nothing out of the ordinary about that. \u00a0Well, we had about 2 miles left to go when this mini van started driving right at me very, very, very slow. \u00a0When it was close enough, I saw that there was this guy driving the van and he was using his phone to video me running! \u00a0How creepy is that!?! \u00a0I thought uncharitable thoughts about that guy, to say the least.<\/p>\n<p>BUT, we made it back to the meeting house where the running group gathers. \u00a0Everybody else ran 15 miles today. \u00a0We were the ones with the uber long run. \u00a0They all greeted us with congratulations and were happy for us. \u00a0They also said to keep moving or else we would stiffen up.<\/p>\n<p>We had a 45 minute drive to get home. \u00a0We stiffened up. \u00a0Oh well&#8230; \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>It was a lovely, lovely, lovely run today. \u00a0Loved every minute of it (except for the creepy guy part). \u00a0Really looking forward to the race and finally feel like maybe I can pull this thing off!<\/p>\n<p>October 20, 2013. \u00a0Mount Desert Island Marathon. \u00a0Bar Harbor, Maine.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Run 23.13 miles Today we ran and ran and ran and then we ran some more. \u00a0We (my husband and I) ran for a grand total of 5 hours and 13 minutes. \u00a0That is a very, very, very long time to run.
