Today’s Run: \u00a08.50 miles<\/p>\n

Today we ran on the new Highway!<\/p>\n

I had mentioned in a previous post about how they are making the Highway close to our house into a 4 lane highway. \u00a0I told you how we had to run on the two lane part of the highway that still had traffic. \u00a0It was spooky…well, today we ran on the new highway side! \u00a0Cool beans!<\/p>\n

The road is not complete~not by a long shot. \u00a0It does not even have asphalt on it (asphalt is my friend). \u00a0It does have layer upon layer of various types of dirt and crushed rock (the rock is so fine it is a dust almost) and a layer of spray on oil type stuff.<\/p>\n

They sprayed to oily\/tar type stuff on the road bed about a week ago. \u00a0We decided on our run this morning to go see if it was dry yet. \u00a0It was! \u00a0YAY!!! \u00a0That meant we could run on it without getting stuck to that “stuff”.<\/p>\n

We took off on the new Highway. It was literally smooth. \u00a0With all the different layers they put on the road bed to prepare it for the asphalt, it was almost springy. \u00a0We had Happy Feet!!! \u00a0What a great time!<\/p>\n

We needed eight miles for our training program this morning. \u00a0We went a bit farther. \u00a0We could see at the crest of the upcoming hill the place where the oily\/tar stuff abruptly ceased. \u00a0Well, you cannot just stop when the end is in sight. \u00a0Right? \u00a0So, we ran as far as we literally could and then turned around and came home.<\/p>\n

It was only 64 F. when we left the house. \u00a0The humidity was pretty high but it was a real pleasure to be out this morning. \u00a0I hope you are jealous~because you should be!<\/p>\n
