Today’s Run: \u00a06.20 miles<\/p>\n
Many of you already know I write a few children’s stories for a regional magazine. \u00a0The main character is one of my hens~Ed Stakrispie: \u00a0Detective Hen. \u00a0Ed is always getting herself into a pickle and is extricated by her faithful helper, Ginger the hen.<\/p>\n
Well, in real life, Ed Stakrispie has been a real stinker. \u00a0I am thinking of changing her name to Houdini. \u00a0She has been escaping like crazy! \u00a0She has escaped 8 times in the past two days. \u00a0Silly chicken.<\/p>\n
Ed comes up to the back door and peeks into the kitchen. \u00a0Just stands there like a peeping tom. \u00a0That gives me the creeps~a peeping tom hen.<\/p>\n
This afternoon, on escape #3, I looked out the back window and sure enough, there was Ed face to face with Kali the cat! \u00a0I had just finished writing a story last week where those two had an encounter and here was the real thing.<\/p>\n
Ed was walking around the cat like the cat was in her way and Kali the cat was getting into that Kitty Crouch, you know, the way they do before they “pounce” on something.<\/p>\n
I lit out of the back door and said something like, “Ed Stakrispie! \u00a0What are you doing!?!” \u00a0That stopped the cat and got Ed’s attention. \u00a0She walked right up to me, “Cluck, cluck cluck” and then lowered herself onto the ground. \u00a0She wanted me to CARRY her back to the chicken house! \u00a0She was tired!!!<\/p>\n
ARGH!!! \u00a0What a chicken!!! \u00a0So, I dutifully picked her up and carried her back to the chicken house~all the while softly scolding her. \u00a0She immediately went into the nesting box and laid an egg. \u00a0I guess she thought I could get her to a nesting box faster than she could. \u00a0Who knows what chickens think!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
