Today’s Run: 5.20 miles<\/p>\n

Oh, the weather outside is frightful! \u00a0Not the “Winter Weather” that we associate with that song, but the toasty, humid weather of the South-Eastern part of the United States.<\/p>\n

I must admit that today, on the whole, it really is not that “hot”~it is only at 95 F. presently and the humidity is low! \u00a0It is surprising pleasant out there. \u00a0BUT~the chickens are uncomfortable. \u00a0They are panting and holding their wings out away from their bodies. \u00a0I need to do something.<\/p>\n

As you know, I take frozen water bottles out to them when it is uber hot. Today does not qualify. \u00a0It is just moderately hot and I do not want to baby them too much or else when the super hot weather arrives, well, they will be toast. \u00a0And we do not want that. \u00a0What to do…<\/p>\n

First of all, I have a frozen ice cube tray filled with unfiltered apple cider vinegar. \u00a0This fulfills three purposes. \u00a01) An apple a day keeps the Dr. away. \u00a0That means they get the benefits of eating apples from the apple cider vinegar. \u00a02) \u00a0The apple cider vinegar keeps away mosquitoes. \u00a0Hence no larvae in their water supply and 3) It cools their drinking water for them!<\/p>\n

Secondly, I have a frozen ice cube tray filled with apple sauce! \u00a0They love anything apple! \u00a0The frozen apple sauce is a great treat. \u00a0It is healthy for them and it cools them off in this moderately warm weather.<\/p>\n

So, today I have happy chickens. \u00a0Two apple treats: \u00a0apple cider vinegar and apple sauce. \u00a0What more could a chicken want!?!<\/p>\n
