How much fun!!! Then we got to the gravel.

There was close to five miles of gravel to endure this morning. It was not nice and compressed gravel that is okay on which to run, this was loose, boulder field gravel and it hurt! My feet were wishing for the fun of that nice springy new asphalt. Poor feet. I was not being very kind to them today.

We had about 3/4 of a mile of gravel left when it happened. All of a sudden my left foot said, “Enough is enough!” and I had a sharp pain in the top of my foot. It stopped me dead in my tracks. I couldn’t walk or anything! This would not do.

We were running the “Roll Tide” route or the “Over the river and through the woods” route. I call it this because of the trespassing we do by climbing over the very large gate to the horse park. This gate was put there with the intention of keeping people like us out of the horse park! My husband helped me hobble to the gate and got me over the gate then he phoned my Dad to drive over to the horse park and pick me up.

My Dad was a good sport and drove right over (my parents live about 3 miles from the horse park). He dropped my husband off at the running group meeting place and took me straight to his house where he gave me coffee and Advil. Once the Advil and coffee (and I am sure it was the coffee that helped the most! 🙂 took affect, my foot felt a lot better. Now what is up with that!?!

Well, I have what I think may be a cyst (TMI here) on the top of that foot and I think it fills with fluid when I run and presses on the top of my foot when I run. Your thoughts? All I know is my foot is fine at all times EXCEPT after about 6+ miles of running. I have this marathon coming up in October and I cannot have this happen during the race. That would be BAD! So, there may be a trip to my physician in my future. I talked to him about it a couple of weeks ago and he “poo-pooed” me. This time, I think I will not let him do that. This is important!

So, that is my tale of woe. The good news is that I did get the distance in that I needed for my marathon training schedule! Every cloud has a silver lining, right!?!

Today’s Run: 8:50 miles Today’s run started out warm and sunny. We started off at 6:15 am. The sun was already strong. It was 70 F. and the humidity was right up there. An hour and a half later, it was a little over 80 F. the humidity was the same, the only difference was […]

[6,8,3,7
