Yesterday’s Run: \u00a010.50 miles<\/p>\n

I love Saturday morning runs with the running group. \u00a0Now that the warmer weather is here, we, the runners are meeting earlier and earlier in a desperate attempt to beat the heat. \u00a0It generally is an epic fail, the warm weather “gets” us while we are still out on our run, but we feel like we have given it our best shot.<\/p>\n

Yesterday’s run was wonderful! \u00a0Since no one has a huge race immediately pending, we had a shorter “long, slow run” of only 10.50 miles. For our group, that is a short distance. \u00a0We had three water stops set up for us along the way and they came in mighty handy as we all were getting hot and tired towards the end. \u00a0But the sites!…<\/p>\n

There were lots of things in bloom yesterday: \u00a0Black Eyed Susan’s. \u00a0Queens Ann’s Lace. \u00a0Crepe Myrtles. And these really cool trees with pink fuzzy flowers that every year I say I am going to find out what they are called. \u00a0I’ll put a pic at the end of the blog and if you know what they are called, let me know? \u00a0Thanks!<\/p>\n

The Mockingbirds were out in force! \u00a0You go along the road and a choir greets you. \u00a0You look around for all of the birds and all you see is one lone Mockingbird sing his little heart out~just for you! \u00a0I love Mockingbirds (They are the state bird of Mississippi. \u00a0A bit of trivia for you there).<\/p>\n

We passed a turtle and another snake. \u00a0My husband did some high stepping over the snake. \u00a0We still do not know if it was alive or not. \u00a0All I know is that it was not squished.<\/p>\n

The dogs on the route today (Talking Warrior Route is the name of the route we ran) were relatively well behaved! \u00a0There are a few beagles on the Talking Warrior Route that like to leave their property and give us a \u00a0bit of grief, but even they stayed in their yards. \u00a0That was a welcome change.<\/p>\n

We passed garage sales, lots of traffic, a “Cowboy Church” and ran the infamous Poor House Road. \u00a0And yes, there really used to be a poor house on Poor House Road (and not that long ago, either!).<\/p>\n

A lot to see in only ten and a half miles! \u00a0It really was a great run! \u00a0When we left the meeting house, it was only 69 F. and when we returned it was only in the upper 70’s. \u00a0Not to shabby of a day for a run. \u00a0Lovely, lovely day!!!<\/p>\n
