Today’s Run: \u00a05.00 miles<\/p>\n

We were led down the Primrose path this morning. \u00a0By a bird. \u00a0A Killdeer bird to be exact.<\/p>\n

This mornings run found us running Evans Rd to Limerock Rd. \u00a05.00 miles round trip (give or take a bit). \u00a0This is the only route that does not have gravel and seeing as we received a lot of rain last night, we had no choice but to run to Limerock Rd. \u00a0Everything else would be muddy.<\/p>\n

Evans Rd is hilly. \u00a0That is good for you. \u00a0Kill the Hills is my motto! \u00a0As we ran up and down those hills, I noticed that there were wild Primrose in bloom all along the road side. \u00a0How pretty! \u00a0I thought of the phrase, “Being led down the Primrose path”. \u00a0Seeing as we were running down a Primrose path, I thought it\u00a0apropos~even though we were not being led astray.<\/p>\n

Enter the Killdeer.<\/p>\n

The Killdeer is this funny little bird. \u00a0It is not very colorful and it lays its eggs along the side of the road. \u00a0No nest. \u00a0Just lays them along the rocks on the side of the road. \u00a0The eggs blend right in with the gravel there along the edge of the road.<\/p>\n

When danger approaches (“Danger, Will Robinson”) the bird jumps into action. \u00a0It starts making a ruckus and running around in the middle of the road dragging a wing like the wing is broken. \u00a0It leads you away from the eggs trying to make you follow it. \u00a0I always feel bad for this bird because I have absolutely no intention of bothering those eggs and yet this bird is thrown into a panic when I run by. \u00a0I try talking to it, to reassure it, but that is a no go.<\/p>\n

Once we pass the eggs, the bird hurries back to resume parenting duties. \u00a0That is the Killdeer bird.<\/p>\n
