Today’s Run: \u00a05.50 miles<\/p>\n

It was a warm one this morning. \u00a0We ran at 6:00 am to beat the heat. \u00a0It was already 72 F. and 86% humidity. \u00a0It was a lovely, albeit muggy morning for a run.<\/p>\n

We encountered our first\u00a0rattlesnake while on a run this morning. \u00a0It was just a baby and it was\u00a0deceased.\u00a0That is fortunate for us because we did not notice it until my husband literally jumped over it. \u00a0“Augh! \u00a0Snake!!!”, he yelled. I stopped dead in my tracks. \u00a0“Where!?!”. \u00a0I had to go look. \u00a0Had to. \u00a0Poor little thing. \u00a0That made us be a little more aware of our surroundings for the remainder of the run.<\/p>\n

We ran the Schaeffer’s Chapel route again. \u00a0That really is my most favorite route! \u00a0We have talked about it many times. \u00a0There is one thing about this route that I have not told you~there is a dragon that lives on the side of the road next to the plank bridge.<\/p>\n

As you enter Schaeffer’s Chapel Road, off to the left is the\u00a0remnants\u00a0of an old tree. \u00a0It is kinda shaped like a dragon. \u00a0I apparently am not the only one who sees this resemblance because somebody has turned that old stump into a real dragon. \u00a0Real in the relative sense of the word.<\/p>\n

This remnant is between 7′-8′ high. \u00a0This is a good sized dragon we are talking about! \u00a0Besides, who ever heard of a little dragon!?! \u00a0Somebody put spikes on it’s back, spots on it’s body and teeth where it’s mouth would be. \u00a0At Easter time, they put a bonnet on it and eggs around the base.<\/p>\n

Since they have put a gate on Schaeffer’s Chapel Road (they have built a new road), our poor dragon has not been as well maintained. \u00a0The grass surrounding it is quite high and it looks lonely. \u00a0The dragon always welcomes us as we enter the gate and bids us a fond farewell as we close the gate on our way home. \u00a0I hope they never take it away. \u00a0It would be missed!\"IMG00830-20130520-0643\"<\/a><\/p>\n
